I haven't bought a new Pokemon game since Black/White came out lol, unless this is just bait which would be unfortunate because there's alot of truth in what you said at least for the actual massive amount of consoomers here. This always sat weird with me. Why WAS Pokemon, specifically, of all of Nintendo's 1st and 2nd party IPs, this brand new IP from a relatively no-name studio (the Pulseman devs? Seriously??) given this astonishingly MASSIVE multimedia marketing push? Especially for the time when such things were unheard of. Card game. Video game. Anime. Toys. All released basically at the exact same time.
