What we don't have is any confirmation that the Regis are those giants. There are a LOT of kinds of giant pokemon. Totem, Alphas, Noble, Titan, Gigantomax, actually for that matter we have thing like Eternatus and Necrozma that are fuckhuge world enders that normally survive in a weakened state and have shards breaking off of them that power up pokemon.

OR for that matter, if the Giants in question were even pokemon. The way it's written is pretty similar to the titanomachy of most world myths. Monstrous things stronger than the gods.

I find it unlikely that the normal regis are the giants in question, because we know for sure they were created. they are golems in the truest sense of the word.
And I find it unlikely that regigigas is itself one of the giants in question, because it has no special interactions with the blank plate or even legend plate. Surely a primordial giant handed back its lost power should have some kind of bombastic effect, even if it's just negating slow start.

Origin ore is one possible interpretation, yes. But given that dialga and palkia and origin form giratina can be caught in normal-ass pokeballs in DPPl, and you even still need to balm and battle it to weaken it, the origin ball is not even like a masterball or anything, origin ore doesn't appear to be contributing all that much oomph. It may indeed contain some shred of arceus's power, but to say it contains the total remainder of it feels like a stretch. Not the least of which problems being, what remainder? Arceus was not defeated.

This isn't a "possible interpretation." We obtain the plaque that mentions that Arceus poured his power into deep stones, shortly before going to Primeval Grotto (which is precisely a reference to that, so the characters go there).
The description of Origin Ore states that it contains the power of Almighty Sinnoh (which is Arceus).

Note that its red color is reminiscent of the eyes of Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, but also of the ores on the foreheads of the Spirit Trio, which can create a red chain to control Dialga or Palkia.
The difference with DPPt is that Dialga and Palkia are not in their origin form, nor in a state of rage comparable to a noble Pokémon.
It's just following the story and lore.

That being said, I agree with you that the giants are not Regigigas or Regis.

I don't think the giants are Totem, Noble, Alpha, Gigantamax, Regis, Regigigas, Eternatus,etc.
They're probably beings outside the concept of space and time that aren't really Pokémon, beings that are currently unknown and could remain so forever.

I just like Regigigas. Simple as.

Regigigas never had its power put into a plate. that's why the plate is blank.

Because Regigigas is not a giant vanquished by God in the primordial chaos.
He just holds Blank Plate in the same way that Heatran will hold Iron Plate because he's a boss with a linked type.
