Back when I was 19, 10 years ago, I sold my entire collection of ps1, ps2, gb, gba and nintendo DS. I'm talking about every pokemon game up to gen 5. All for a 100 bucks. Why? Because I was poor and wanted to impress this girl on a date. I never ended up seeing her again. She even chose my best friend.

When I sold it some other buyer told me that the digimon game I had for the PS1 was solely worth more than 100 bucks alone.

I coped with telling myself I'm a grown man and needed to focus on the grind. Now look at me, 10 years later, unemployed still living with my mom.

Because they no longer produce them and Poketards tend to want to keep their game so those who are actually willing to sell them ask an outrageous price for it. It's not like modern Pokemon game where you can sell them and get another copy right at the store

Why would people buy it when they can just emulate it on mGba at higher quality and for free? Are they stupid?

How? It's literally the same experience, actually worse, than emulating it. On PC emulation I can change all sorts of filters, the audio, the controls, etc. On hardware I have to be stuck on the handheld and be tethered to a battery, can't take screenshots, can't speed up. Original hardware is objectively inferior.

>can't speed it up
After using the fast forward function enough, I started to actually hate playing Pokemon games at normal speeds.

I actually had to take a long break from playing Pokemon to get myself to enjoy it again. Just because of the speed thing. I now have made it a rule that I cannot use fast forward anymore.

Anyone else experience this or is it just me?

I removed the fast forward key so that even if i impulsively hit tab or spacebar, nothing happens. After a while i got used to it again and i actually enjoy playing the main campaign more. I still fast forward in the facilities tho

Considering that I have almost have an entire collection of original hardware, I may as well just get the original hardware. I also have less free time so having to do a bunch of emulation research for an activity that's supposed to be my free time isn't worth the payoff.

Mostly in Japan. Gen 3 was peak 'pokemon isn't cool anymore' phase for the West.

They're like $130 in the UK despite being literally the exact same game, it's still ridiculous of course but not quite as bad. It's the same thing with Gamecube stuff as well, NA copies of the games are like twice as expensive. The American used market is seriously fucked.

Original hardware is something to experience. Especially with Gen III there were so many inter-connected things like the Gamecube link cable to Colosseum, the real time clock, the wireless link, and even connecting to Gen IV towards the end.

Amazing that, a finite resource is priced at the whims of the sellers setting the prices and the fuckwits paying them.
>>57994113
It sold more in Burgerstan and Yurop than in Nipland kid. And it STILL performed in line with series average. Non-remake, mid-gen/rehash games usually sell about half the total of the lead pair of the Gen, with Crystal being the only outlier, due to the GBA launching in the west before Crystal. Emerald sold about 7m, which is almost half of the 16, RS garnered.

If you want to do that, just buy a flash cart. You can put any game you want on there and thereโ€™s even ones that have RTC with an easily replaceable battery.

ooh good idea! Inspired me to do the same. Couldn't remove they keybinding so I just changed mgba's settings to make the fast forward speed be 1x the normal speed, so it does nothing. Thanks anon!

Emerald are the best Pokemon games and thus the most valuable Pokemon games.

It's not the sellers' fault you're a poor zoomer who missed out on buying them at release *and* can't afford them now.

Just emulate them or buy a flash cart. A copy of Emerald is not in your cards, just accept it.
