whenever i'm doing a second playthrough/challenge run, i like to choose the opposite gender. turns out i'm a tranny, but now i also choose the boys occasionally and i frequently choose different hair color and races whenever i can. escapism is most fun and effective when you can be someone completely different and not a self insert.

Always pick male first playthrough. For second playthrough only if girl is cute enough. Except Legends Arceus as a joke I chose black female with name made exclusively from extended keyboard.

I always pick the guy and use exclusively male Pokémon if it can be helped. I don't restart over a female starter, nor do I box a shiny I like just because it's female, but beyond this, I typically pretend that women do not exist. IDK why I do this.

I pick the girl based on what the manga has the girl as.
See Y-chan, Sapphire, and Moon. The exceptions are Kris and Lyra. Kris is the first girl to choose for Pokémon games. Lyra, while shafts Kris, has a big hat.

I wish that they would bring back the list of optional names for the "what is your name" part of the intro that they had in Gen 1 and Gen 2 and Ruby and Sapphire. For some reason they removed it and went straight to the keyboard screen when they made Emerald and FRLG.

I absolutely hate having to either type in a name or entering a blank name and hoping I like the random name it decides to spit out.

I play a lot of Emerald and FireRed romhacks and it's a shame that nobody has thought to re-implement the name choice screen. Or to just skip the name thing all together and just go by the canon protagonist's name. RSE did it with the rival, making it so they always were named Brendan or May, so why hasn't anyone done the same for the player character??

I want to get into learning how to make romhacks just to create it ugh...
