When you were young what was your johto starter and why /vp/?

Totodile. I wanted Cyndaquil, but I thought Water wasn't weak to Grass, so I'd be at an advantage.
Nowadays I like Feraligatr more than Typhlosion anyway, so I'm cool with Totodile having been my first Pokémon by mistake.

Gold was my first Pokemon game. Chikorita looked too girly and I thought Totodile looked a bit cooler than Cyndaquil. I vividly remembered how hard six-year old me soi-faced when Croconaw evolved in Feraligatr. It's been my favorite Pokemon ever since.

when I was younger and my brothers were also playing pokemon with me, I always went with Cyndaquil. I think I just liked typhlosion cause it looked cool, and yet it somehow worked out, since we all had a starter we clung to with zero overlaps.
I (the youngest) had Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Treecko, Turtwig, and Snivy.
the Middle Brother had Charmander, Chikorita, Mudkip, Piplup, and Tepig.
the Oldest Brother had Squirtle, Totodile, Torchic, Chimchar, and Oshawott.

..currently, though, my favourite of the 3 is Meganium. I just like how cute it looks.

Typhlosion because it looked the coolest throughout its line, as I didn't like Chikorita or Croconaw. But I like all 3 Johto starter final forms and have done many runs using each of them. My latest had Meganium. In PLZA I'm likely picking Totodile.

Dunno. I started boxing starters pretty early on in my time playing Pokemon. I've pretty much always had this kind of autistic "I don't like starters because 1/3 of all people pick that one too" thing with them and they always felt like cheating due to their higher stats compared to the route 1 shitmons.
Boxing my starter the second I can has always been one of my favorite things to do for a while, it makes the game feel a lot more balanced in the difficulty, at least in the early game.

Chikorita; Meganium was a sturdy thing even if cuter than Venusaur, dual screens on a starter (knew this in advance from magazines/internet at the time) sounded amazing (it is, who knew). But I second everyone praising Feraligatr for being a brute.
