They are made for each other. Hilda sees past the brutish appearance of Emboar to the kind, loyal and protective Pokemon that he is. They have a real Beauty and the Beast thing going on.

Yes, we're all aware of the fetish doujin. There are doujins and fanart like that for every Pokemon and trainer. In canon, Hilda isn't a dogfucker and is in fact never safer than when she's accompanied by Emboar.

I think I might still have a shiny Emboar on my copy of BW, maybe I’ll dig out my 3DS to check.
I hope the remakes are better than BDSP, but I’m not very confident.
Shame we never got the continuation of faithful tepig with Hilda.
All of the art of Emboar towering over Hilda made me think he's a lot taller than he is.

If I'm able to play the BW remakes when they come out, this would be my team for the majority of the game, then I'd probably get Lapras and Tyranitar in the postgame.
it's interesting how PCs develop "canon" starter choices. Sometimes it's simple like Red getting charizard because it's the most popular. Other times it's reverse engineered via a certain choice fitting the rival too well like gen 4. Sometimes a combination of both like gen 2. It's especially interesting that Red in gen2 established a template for entire canon teams.
Finally, a good Hilda thread(featuring Emboar). I really like how consistent this pairing is.
