In this Crystal Legacy run, I used a Gameshark code to start the game with Elekid because I was running out of mons I haven't used before to get through the early game.

I went with Slowking because I needed Slowpoke for the early game. Otherwise I would've waited until getting Surf to catch a Slowbro in the bottom of the Slowpoke Well.

Gligar can now be found in the grass in Route 42. It got +5 in Speed and HP and +10 in Attack. While it can't learn Dig nor Fly, it at least learns Mud Slap, Earthquake, and Wing Attack by level up.

Arbok gets +2 in HP and +10 in Speed and Attack. It learns Substitute as it evolves and I got plenty of use out of it. There are a TON of opponents who love boom strats, especially in the post game. Great with Leftovers. Pro-tip, Clair's Kingdra has a Leftovers so you can steal it without having to wait until post game.

Forretress gets a buffed Pin Missile and Spike Cannon is now a Steel move.

Might as well post this Yellow Legacy run too. These runs were done a while ago but these threads are so infrequent.

Magmar can be obtained in the Game Corner for 1500 coins. It got +10 in Special. The Razor Wind TM was replace with a Flamethrower TM so any fire mon on your team can be a powerhouse right away. Erika is much tougher now and has even tougher teams depending on your badge count so it balances out.

Parasect has a buffed Leech Life but is pretty much unchanged.

Seadra gets Dragon Rage and a Dragon type Slam with improved accuracy and flinch chance.

The Safari Zone made catching the rare mons a lot easier. It's amusing seeing Chansey having more than double the HP of the other mons.

Hitmonlee got major stat buffs. +15 in HP, +17 Defense, +25 Special, and +6 Speed.

Marowak got +30 in Special, making it both a mixed attacker and able to tank special moves as well as it can in later gens.

I think this is the best team for Hoen is made to OHKO any gym after Norman

Gen 7 was the best one to try it in because Bagon was on the first island and enough calls for help could net you a Salamance, but even then you had to wait a while for the rest of them.

Playing through the postgame of White 2, this is my team. I've honestly had a lot of fun with it. Reuniclus and Maractus are incredibly fun Pokémon to use.

I've also gotten the itch to play through Johto again, this time using Meganium (only one of the three Johto starters I haven't used yet). I've already played Soul Silver a couple of times, and considering that I'm a Zoomie who's never played any of the original 2 gens, I was thinking of playing Crystal instead of SS - of course, with Yanma and Piloswine instead of their gen 4 evolutions. The problem is that you get Remoraid and especially Slugma really late - I was thinking of looking up a romhack that 'fixes' the distribution, but I feel like that'd take away from getting to experience the originals as they were. But I'd really like to try out these specific Pokémon...
What do you guys recommend I do?

Hmm. I don't necessarily want the 'classic' experience, just something close to it. Then again, I am an insecure faggot and I don't want oldfags deriding me for “not playing the true experience”.
There's also the way I build teams. I've already used Arcanine on a previous game, and the way I build teams is that I deliberately try to search for cool Pokémon I'd like to try out, that I haven't used yet. Meganium, Octillery and Magcargo are the main ones in this team.
I'm not bothered by the lack of the physical/special split, or non-reusable TMs (since you can obtain more than one of the same TM, for many good TMs, anyways). It really is just the Pokémon distribution that kinda bothers me, haha.
I was planning to trade a Remoraid egg to the Soul Silver save I was planning to start; but if I'm gonna do this in Crystal, then ofc I cannot do that as I don't have any gen 2 game (and I'm unsure if you can trade eggs in gen 2).
