They get memed on a lot but some Pokemon genuinely benefitted from the more outlandish and dynamic posing of Gen 1 sprites and I think Slowbro was one of them.

I like the RB one. The clueless face of Slowbro mixed with the Cloyster like smug face for the Shellder is a nice contrast

While it may not be lore-accurate to how Slowbro behave in other media, I really like how Red/Blue sprite puts shell on the front. This makes it feel like both sides are actively supporting each other during battle.

The RGB sprites are neat because he has that early-franchise edge to him. His eyes look blank rather than clueless, like which one is the brains, Slowbro or the shell? Is one just an empty husk? Then they slowly turn him into just "clueless generic animal". But my preference is Gold/RS because I think it shows the Pokemon's personality a bit more. He's clueless and slow, but also just a big dope.

I agree. On the opposite end, I think the Gen 2 sprites look the worst. Later gens fix the weird effect going on in Gen 2 but are pretty conservative with the poses
