The only way we would get anything more controversial than jam on toast is if there were radical shifts in mainstream Japanese and/or international culture. Modern Pokémon are designed to be as consumable and marketable as possible, without having any sort of traits that would make then uncanny or offensive. The most offensive or edgy Pokémon they've made since gen 5 is probably Tsareena, and of course most people wouldn't even consider it to be that offensive. The scariest thing you'll get from newer games will be either from the characters or a Pokémon that looks like Grimmsnarl.
