I like the idea of gym leaders themed around different aesthetic types of pokemon, based off of the contest types.

Uses mons that are small and adorable. Probably focus on fairy and normal types can be first gym leader by virtue of having lots of pre-evos.

I've always wanted to run a Fossil gym. Lots of gym leaders have fossils, but not a whole gym team around them. My picks, based entirely on favoratism, would be Archeops, Aurorus, Kabutops, Relicanth, Dracozolt, and Cradily.

Alternatively, a gym where every pokemon is the same double type. Like all Grass/Fighting, all Water/Ground. That sorta thing.

Why can't that just be another group of trainers who use themed teams?
Gym leaders specialize in types because they're meant to test the trainer's knowledge of type matchups, and often because they prefer the type they specialize in

I'm running a TTRPG so I could do this, I will monitor this thread. Type aces in PTA3 can change a Pokemons type to theirs so I have a lot of options. Ice/Flying Noctowl for example.

I do have a fossil gym, they're all rock type and there will be standstorm use. He's an archeologist. Gym trainers are a good way to have a theme team that isn't type locked, so in his gym he could be supported by a guy with no fossils, but is desert themed so he can set up sand and has mons that ignore sand through typing or abilities.
The normal gym was really hard to make interesting, but I did my best.

A really weird gym leader who uses an all-female team of waifumons that all seem a bit too close to him and then randomly one of them is just really messed up.

The gym leader talks about how there's been local petitions to have him removed from being a gym leader. The truth is its all just an innocent mistake. The truth is he traded pokemon with his family members for each of his current team and even while he's away from them doing his job, his team reminds him of his family back home and they all have a close familial bond.

Only Candice and Volkner had Pokémon in their teams that don't match their type and neither were the ace.
It was Scarlet and Violet that had aces outside of the Gym Leader's type, but Terastal turned them that type, leading to yet more easy type advantage sweeps.
