Ancient-power evos were a neat concept, but havenโ€™t revisited after Gen 4.
Share some ideas of mons evolving into a stronger โ€œprehistoricโ€ version of their species.

I fear that at some point, the gimmick train will eventually leave the station and any remaining Kanto mons that weren't able to get any new toys to play with will just have to go fuck themselves because giving nearly every one of the original 151 mons something new would be too on the nose in terms of pandering.

Personally, I think that's bullshit because at this point, I think an alternate timeline Kanto where all the mons are different in some way would be more interesting than another region of new, western cartoon-looking shitmons with smooth textures that make them easy to churn out 3D models of.

We already had something like this with ORAS, an alternate reality where Megas are a daily occurrence and there's a bullet train between Japan and France.

I've never played PLGPE, so I don't know how they modified the lore of current Kanto. I only remember that the Alolan girl vacationed there when she was young.

Yes, but it is unlikely that they will create more since they are a type of legendary, both for their stats and their lore, it is more feasible that they will give an old Pokemon a new evolution.

The same thing happened with the UBs, I still hope for a little love for them.

They probably didn't want to confuse children by using a monster plant as a caveman's representative. The game is one thing, and this exhibition, which was a bit more serious, was another. They showcased both Pokรฉmon and real-life inspirations.

Although if that were the case, they could use Primeape as an Australopithecus equivalent.

Lets Go is pretty neat. The only real difference story wise is that the player and rival are sperate characters from Red and Blue, meaning the person who took down Team Rocket is different. And Megas and Alolan pokemon are used by the the Elite 4 in rematches to flesh out their team variety (Agatha gets Marowak, Lance gets Eggsecutor, Bruno gets I think Golem, and Lorelie gets I think Sandslash). You can find tourists around the region who are willing to trade you their alolan pokemon, and you can get your own megastones from a mega fanboy who sells them to you.

A shaggy caveman would have been more obvious with a club, but they sacrificed that to keep its hands free so it could move like Tarzan using its vine-arms.

My heart is with a Kiwi pre-evolution, but I understand that mechanically an evolution is more important for Dodrio

OP's image conveys the conceptual intent, and the feet are plant pots
Also, it evolves from a tumbleweed into a shrub; when you consider that, you recall the notion of people hiding in shrubs and bushes and peeping out of them, which makes even more sense than Tangela's

Dodrio doesn't need an evolution at all; it needs ability buffs and movepool expansions.

Run Away should have always granted an immunity to trapping of every sort, for example.

It should have had Jump Kick as early as Gen III. Even Drill Run's prior existence would have served it well. It suffers from the typical Normal/Flying problem of being too easily stopped.

They are literally vines with colored tips that simulate a hairy hominid limb, but the fingers are bare, like Monferno hand.

Tangrowth only simulates being a caveman, but its nature is closer to a swamp monster. Its Shiny version resembles older versions of Gorgons or Typhon, with snake-like arms and hair.

What about treeko? He goes from a leaf tailed gecko to something more like a velociraptor. Slakoth goes from a sloth to a sloth baboon to a ground sloth silverback gorilla. Plenty of pokemon or evolution lines take inspiration from more than one animal why do autistic people find that so hard to accept.

if I had the skill with sound software, I'd warp Tangelas cry into Tarzans' iconic shout, cause THAT should've been Tangrowth's cry
