The sprite just happened to show it in a sitting pose in Gen 5. That doesn't mean it couldn't stand.

Purrloin is a bipedal cat, not a quadruped. This was always canon.
Its whole thing is that it walks up to you like some innocent cat, then when you try to pet it or whatever, it gets up on two legs, "ohohohoho"s you and runs off with your wallet in its hand, and now thanks to it running on two legs the fur pattern looks more like some kind of skin-tight thief suit rather than just some innocent fur pattern.
Don't understand Liepard though.

What's dumb is Meowth becoming bipedal, it really should've stayed a quadruped, but I think TPC forgot that TR's Meowth is special and eventually made them all stand up instead of sitting like a maneki neko or whatever they're called, the lucky cat holding coins in Jap shops.

Ok, but the one I posted is great, and pretty much all of Himeno's old pencil drawings have dynamism that this shitty Purrloin card doesn't have. Even in the 2000s when his cards took on digital drawings, they were soft and played well with naturalistic lighting. This just looks like baby's first day on GIMP.
