Does that not exist? I remember being invited to one when I was a teenager, I think. Maybe it was just some RP thing. I declined so I do not know, but I thought for sure that existed. Either way I doubt PMD would be hard for something like GURPS to adapt to.

Plenty of systems could be more easily adapted into a PMD style game; it's really just a group of adventurer's in a Magical Root style world
Here's a few pokemon with a variety of shapes and abilities that can easily be replicated in the two most popular systems.

DnD 5e (2014) Characters
>Pikachu: Goblin Storm Sorcerer
>Machop: Dwarf Battle Master Fighter
>Chikorita: Centaur Dreams Druid
>Natu: Fairy Aberrant Mind Sorcerer

Pathfinder 2e Characters
>Pikachu: Ratfolk Air Kineticist
>Machop: Dwarf Animal Barbarian
>Chikorita: Leshy Nymph Sorcerer
>Natu: Sprite Ancestor Oracle

The main thing is that, if you go caster, you'll want to avoid prepared casters (Cleric, Wizard, Druid, etc.), as spontaneous casters are more in line with move-level ups in pokemon.
Modern TTRPG systems are built in a way to kinda facilitate way more playstyles than the standard medieval fantasy. All you'd have to do is implement more weaknesses/resistances than these systems tend to implement (though, if you're playing 5e, I recommend borrowing Pathfinder 2e's weakness/resistance system, as a creature with a weakness in 5e just gets blown out the water immediately).
It's not perfect; it'd be hard to make Ditto in Pathfinder 2e (5e has cracked Changelings to make it work), or any limbless pokemon would be hard to replicate. But you should be able to get the general idea.
Do you have a specific pokemon you'd like to play as? I enjoy building characters in my downtime.

I don't know of any attempted systems and I don't have time to flesh this out and workshop it into a proper ruleset, but off the top of my head:
>players can start at level 1 as an unevolved pokemon, maybe limit it to lines with 3 stages, or don't if you just want a casual game where you can play your favorites
>their bst determines their stat spread
>map pokemon stats to the most logical d&d stats
>or just replace them entirely, though that does make mapping skills to stats harder
>either way speed should probably influence initiative while movement is done by size and body type like in d&d
>maybe stat adjustments based on lore stuff as everyone knows the dex entries and game stats frequently clash
>players can evolve upon meeting the requirements
>to squeeze the level cap to d&d's 20 treat them as percentages - d&d level 1 = pokemon level 5, 20 = 100 - instead of bulbasaur evolving at 16 it'd be 20x0.16 = 3.2, round up or down as needed, if level 3 feels too early for players to hit their first evolution make it 4
>for other requirements work it into story events to control pacing
>use a stat calculator (0 ivs/evs, neutral nature) then do some math to bring it into a reasonable range for d&d
>modifiers adjust to ability scores as usual
>physical attacks = wespons, pp = number of arrows an archer is carrying
>special and status attacks = spells, pp = available spell slots
>use power to determine damage dice + type chart for vulnerability/resistance/immunity, remove pokemon's 4x - ember against a snover, 1d4 fire, roll a 3, 2x = 6 damage
>carry over pokemon abilities as race features
>d&d classes carry over to influence stat growth, proficiencies, and features
>items already provide benefits when equiped or used, adjust to the new stat system
>for npcs/enemies, all pokemon get a cr at a level equal to the players based on their bst
>cr1 = <200, cr2 = 200-225, etc
That's all I got for now, time for bed.

Something to consider is Pathfinder’s ancestry feats allow this to be baked into the system.
Something like Charmander is pretty easy, since a Lizardfolk-Tiefling (Tiefling are a subcategory of ancestry that can be applied to any race in PF) gets wings at level 9. You are locked into evolution checkpoints being 1, 5, 9, 13, or 17 though.

I'm fairly certain Pokemon Tabletop Adventure (or was it United?) Had an optional playbook for mystery dungeon campaigns but I never read it. You could totally ask in /tg/. They will likely have more specific information as pokemon tabletop has been explored a lot over the years.
