When you were a kid did you prefer Magmar or Electabuzz?

I think Electabuzz, if only for its anime cry.

I don't think I actually liked either as a kid. As an adult I guess Electabuzz is okay, if that counts for anything

I thought both were hideously ugly and wondered why anyone would choose them when the cute Pikachu and the cool Charizard are outright given to you. Magmar has permanently outstretched arms and Electabuzz's Stadium idle animation unnerved the hell out of me and I hated it.

Neither.
I only started appreciating Electabuzz because of Electivire. And while I also like MAgmortar, I still think MAgmar looks like shit

I vote Electabuzz but both have been kind of fumbled over time IMO
Anime and TCG/sugimori art
Magmar was peak but the games themselves have never really sold him as well except maybe Gen 1, he was one of the few that looked like ass in stadium
Electabuzz similarly was best in his TCG art and was very cool in red but looked underwhelming in stadium and looks worse and less proportionate in every subsequent appearance. I particularly abhor his big-headed Gen II backsprite.
I'd say they both benefitted from the more chaotic or amateurish art style from R/G and R/B and have gotten botched as the games got more professional and approachable
Also both their babymons (stupid concept in general) and uggo sinnoh evos haven't helped their aura either

It's fucking unnatural and both it and you should die. Magmar and Electabuzz are unnatural.

3) Tiger stripes that looked like lightning bolts seemed cool

I like Elekid and Electivire but I never liked Electabuzz's design even back in gen 1. I don't like how it looks like it has a unibrow.

I've always loved them both

They're one of the few actual monsters the quadrilogy dex offers, and they're both otherworldly aesthetically and even mechanically to some extent

I also loved Magmortar and Electivire

I give the lines a solid tie

Electabuzz because magmar is has a butt head
These days I think I prefer magmar though. Electivire is better than both.
