I'm not gonna lie, I'm always surprised by how Kusaka manages to tie stuff together so it fits, like how Kyogre and Groudon orbs break into the ruby and sapphire from FRLG, which are used to "reproduce Hoenn climate" for Deoxys forms, but their crystalic forms slowly grow into the prisms from ORAS, explaining the design change for the remake.
The guy either has some insider info or is EXTREMELY lucky and imaginative. Sometimes he does incredibly dumb stuff like the Maxie and Archie bodyswap via Distortion World but damn most of time I'm pleasantly surprised by how the guy fits the broken pieces he's given to
