A thread for the creation and discussion of fan fiction and other fanworks - anything that involves a story and/or reading. What've you been reading? What've you been writing? What would you like to see more of?

>matter-energy conversionHow safe are Pokéballs and the tech behind it?
We see Pokéballs cast energy rays which contain all the necessary information (DNA, biomass, soul etc.) to constitute living entities. Usually, everything works as intended, as the pokemon is completely materialized or converted into energy. But free energy like that seems volatile. Most energy-conversion based tech in fiction is depicted as being prone to errors, which more often than not leads to horrible results (e.g. teleportation accidents, telefrags). Fusion isn’t a fringe concept to the Pokéworld, given the few canonical examples there are:
>Bill's teleporter>Cara Liss' fossil chimeras>the DNA Splicers (though they’re limited to the Tao Trio)>Pokémon RéBURSTPokéballs seem safe, given there are no known incidents. But considering the possibility of something (or someone) tampering with this energy transfer process, what if…
>... A) the energy ray is blocked off? If parts of the information were lost, would rematerialization result in defects or even the death of the pokemon in question (as some undefinable bloody mess would spawn instead)?>... B) there are solid object or other entities in the way? Would the pokemon just spawn a bit offset? Or would the pokemon materialize regardless of what's currently occupying the space? What would happen: Telefrag, fusion, merging etc.?
2/4
>... C) two energy rays intersect? Are the energy rays stable enough to keep all information confined, or can they accidentally mix? Are these energy rays vulnerable to external manipulation?
>... D) the Pokéball was damaged, hacked or faulty to begin with? Would the probability of an accident be increased, as safety features (will get to those next) would fail?
Given the scenarios, I assume there are safety features built into a Pokéball's system, which prevents worst case scenarios from happening.
>1) Pokéballs have a limitation of what they can target and catch. They're able to catch pokemon, but not humans (at least no known cases ?). One could argue it's because pokemon are just special creatures with the Pokéballs tech working on them, but not humans. Yet, we have many examples of inanimate objects - that aren't pokemon - being caught and converted into energy as well. Like clothing (not related to the species, e.g. Machop line) or hold items. We have this anime scene with a Pokéball catching a riceball: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9aLD8SGoPIc. If something else than pokemon can be caught with a Pokéball, then what prevents it from catching humans, if not a safety feature?
>2) Pokéballs cannot hold more than one pokemon. If a pokemon is caught, the Pokéball's internal system turns the catching mechanism off. It's interesting to mention that certain pokemon consists of multiple entities (like Slowbro, Magneton, Falinks) grouped together. This would mean a Pokéball is capable of storing multiple distinct entities, as we already mentioned with inanimate objects. Though this is - for whatever reason - limited to specific species whose individuals happen to appear in groups. Perhaps Pokéballs have a limited capacity of how much data they can safely store and transfer, meaning handling additional data of different species and objects could be prone to errors. Which of course should be minimized.
3/4
>3) Pokéballs have a safety feature that checks if the device is working properly. If abnormalities are detected (e.g. cracks, technical defects, low battery), the Pokéball will automatically lock, preventing its usage until the Pokéball is repaired. However, this safety measure can fail, as of EP107, when a cracked Pokéball causes Ash’s Snorlax to be released. So that's debatable.
>4) There are no knock-offs or off-brand Pokéballs (at least no known ones (?). All stem from the same few companies, meaning they're bound by law to ensure their products are safe to use.
What about Kurt's Pokéballs and the Hisuan ones? Given Kurt is a reputable Pokéball smith, he probably has some technique that makes his Pokéballs as safe as industrially manufactured ones. Hisuan Pokéballs should be more prone to accidents, given the past tech. Though, it’s debatable if during the time when PLA takes place, they improved their craft to the point of Pokéballs being relatively safe to use.
Cara Liss’ machine could be a case of modified tech ignoring those safety rules, which resulted in pokemon hybrids.
>5) Outside of technical stuff, battle rules established by the Pokémon League could reflect safety precautions as well. Like, propagating it as a cultural norm. For example, switching pokemon in or out always happens in a given order: FIRST you call a present pokemon back, THEN you send the replacement in. It's never (?) shown that pokemon are immediately send in while the present pokemon is still in the process of being turned into energy and called back. (Not taking into account pokemon being send in next to another pokemon; perhaps with a safe distance, the risk of energy rays affecting each other can be ruled out.) With that, Pokéball users unknowingly avoid getting into dangerous situations in the first place.
4/4
Lastly, judging how most knowledge in real life comes with a blood toll, one can only shudder to think what accidents might have happened, before these safety precautions were put in place. Perhaps some of these "kid turned into a Kadabra" stories are actually cover-ups for these mishaps.
TL;DR: Risks of matter-energy conversion tech used in Pokéballs and what safety measures might be used to avoid accidents from happening.
>>58006607Would my rambling above count as an example of overthinking and overexplaining stuff? I mean in terms of exploring darker aspects of the lore, it should be tolerable, right?
>>58016560Good effort post. Since you made me think about it, I like to believe the Pokéball deconstruction is a solid light-like transformation that the Pokémon can then control, direct and reform at will by drawing on their energy until they materialize proper.
Of course I would never describe it like that in a story, it's way simpler to let each reader have their own explanation that they like to believe in. Rationalizing weird quirks of Pokémon can lead to a lot of fridge horror like with the accident scenarios you described and if not that strip the magic out of the basic setting. It'd make for a fun horror though. Or fetish, if you're into weird shit.

I mean in terms of exploring darker aspects of the lore, it should be tolerable, right?Unless your story was already into magitechno mumbo jumbo then yeah you're probably going too hard into it. Like, in your attempt to explain(or at least question) what didn't need to be explained, a few things came up that gave me reason to feel disagreement(such as the multiple distinct entities thing in #2, which isn't exactly true because they share an HP pool and thus are all tied together in some mystical way).
That said, I think you can get away with a lot of the things you seem to have in mind so long as you just do them and don't go too hard into explaining them.
It's a lot like how you typically shouldn't give exact numbers in your story: someone is going to pull out the calculator and look for an inconsistency to pick apart.

You think those hippies managed to hack into Unova's PC system and shut it all down? You think they just so happened to find the ancient dragons, something hobbyists poachers and professors have been trying to do for years? You think they really managed to fly an airship over Unovan airspace without immediately getting shot down from every angle? After spending two chapters doing mostly training scenes, I earn the right to "training montage" the opening of the next chapter, right? I don't want to be six pages deep before the meat of the current chapter starts and it's not training focused.
>>58017497You pose an interesting question, are training chapters popular? I know they're common in manga but I barely see them in books beyond a few mentions
>>58017550I've had like three of them so far in my fic, although they've been more of a "getting to know the Pokemon" sort, not just straight up workouts and attack practice. I've noticed fics that do training chapters usually go in depth the first time around and then explain what happened in later sessions in passing (pacing being a big thing I reckon).
>>58017497do a montage, but give dedicated chapters for when something significant changes

>>58018081I have one of those upcoming, and I got advice from a friend who used to write ponyfics. They said to think of it like a dogfight, and consider how each 'mon is propelling themselves. Do they require fine motor control and constant wing movements, but have a lower top speed? Are they gliders that need wide sweeping movements and big set-ups for attack runs? Are they a more unorthodox non-flyer straight up propelling themselves with some kind of propulsion based off pure kinetic force?
If you know how each mon is moving themselves, where they can go in the battlefield, and how quickly they can do it, it becomes easier to envision strategies for them.

>>58018081They'd be nothing like dog-fights. (The plane kind)
Look up birds fighting each other in the air, it usually involves a lot of talon grappling and death spiraling because showing your back to the enemy is a straight disadvantage compared to turning and readying talons. They're not planes, they can perform many more maneuvers in the air and not worry about stalling it.
Adding ranged attacks into the mix, it's more like if two mechas were fighting each other in the air or in space. Why would they dogfight? Always face the enemy, always ready your weapons, focus on lateral movement more than forward or backwards, and if you get the enemy from behind you're at a huge advantage.

>>58020642Mildly related, but I had an idea where Evil Arceus, Arceus's twin brother, forces all towns and cities into regional battle royals. Everybody in each town is on the same team under the leadership of their Gym Leader (towns without Gym Leaders gain one) and battle for control until one town controls the entire region. Just for fun. Arceus, Evil Arceus's twin brother, isekai's me into the pokemon world to bring peace (and knock people up cause that's my fetish).
>>58020732Obviously she beats Cynthia after she has already lost the title of Champion. Cynthia wouldn't be any weaker, but her sister can believably beat Cynthia because she already has been beaten.
>>58021007So Arceus's rebuttal to Evil Arceus's plan to centralize power in the region through bloodshed and rape...is to isekai his own Champion to centralize power in the region through bloodshed and rape? Holy based...
How does the game work in the first place? How do you take a town—do you kill the opposing Gym Leader, plant your flag on the government building, kill enough people until they surrender? Are the people of a town magically compelled to obey their Gym Leader, or do they follow them simply because they're stronger? What does the average citizen get out of their city conquering another one, btw?
>>58021007>Evil ArceusI've considered Arceus to be like a "super Unown" of sorts for a long time. I even toyed with the idea of an Unown coming in contact with Distortion and turning into essentially a Dark Arceus, forcing the real one to come down and banish the interloper and ancient peoples that created it into the Distortion World, which Giratina guards. This was the backstory of Poke-Atlantis for a homebrew region I still have bouncing around my head. May get to work on it one day.
>>58021052Shrug. It was an autism flight of fancy because I like war games but the idea of writing a real pokemon war bores me. If I had to come up with answers on the spot then...
You take a town when a Gym Leader surrenders or is defeated (no longer having pokemon to battle with). Nobody is magically compelled to act at all and there is in fact no reason for anybody to attack each other. Evil Arceus wants to laugh as humans descend into paranoia at the mere idea of their neighbors invading them until someone inevitably makes the first move of aggression and the rest of the dominoes fall (We can't just wait for those ninja bastards in Fuchsia city to kill us! Even if all of Kanto stayed peaceful do you think Unova won't be coming for us after they tear themselves apart?!). The original Gym Leaders have power because they are the strongest in their town, and also Gym Leaders are pretty much 'the flag' that they need to protect to keep independence so everybody has a vested interest in keeping them safe. But the Gym Leader position can be gained by defeating the current Gym Leader of the nation you are apart of in a traditional 6v6 pokemon battle. Pokemon battles between members of the same city are Evil Divinely enforced to be 1v1s (or 2v2s or whatever, as long as both sides have an equal amount of pokemon), and everybody can only take 6 pokemon into these battles (but they can carry as many as they want on them). There is however no rules whatsoever in battles between towns. Gym Leaders cannot turn down a challenge, but the consequences for losing are entirely up to the Gym Leader themselves. But even if you defeat the Gym Leader you are likely going to have to immediately fight all of their loyalists without time to rest as now YOU cannot refuse any battles. Towns without Gym Leaders will instead be given one at "random", who may or may not be prepared to suddenly become the target of every ambitious asshole in town.
>>58021251As for Gym Leaders of gymless towns, I would make the 'random' leaders be important NPCs. Daisy Oak (more interesting than having her Grandpa be it), Mr. Fuji, Lance... You get the idea. Also, everybody can see aura (not capital A Aura) and everybody has an aura that's the color of the town they belong to, and you can't willingly change the town you're a citizen of. So if you're an outside people will instantly know that you don't belong. Evil Arceus has faith in aura racism to further divide people. Ultimately he just wants to enjoy the chaos while humanity destroys itself over mere suggestions of violence.
Arceus chooses me to save he world because she also has a pregnancy fetish. I can turn dudes into chicks too. As a treat.
PokéSpe Red is for haremshit
Ash is for autistic scenarios like climbing a plane mid-air like Ethan Hunt
Thoughts on aura also literally being aura(slang)? As in the cooler you are and the more feats you have the stronger your aura. Getting badges, catching legendaries, being a hero or villain, all of these things improve your aura because reality itself respects impressive feats.
It doesn't give control of aura, but just by having a stronger aura people will naturally respect/fear you. It's also a pseudo tie-in for badges being required for powerful pokemon to feel like listening to you--earning badges literally makes you intuitively seem more impressive. Also under these rules degenerates innately lose aura since their fetishes are cringe.
>>58021294So Solo Leveling?
>>58021297I didn't read/watch Solo Levelling so I wouldn't know, but I do know Solo levelling Guy is the only one with the Gamer System in his world, so not exactly. In this ruleset everyone has aura and the chance to gain/lose aura through feats, not just one guy.
But aura farming like Solo Levelling Guy does would definitely be a thing. More people think you're an epic coolguy = stronger aura. Champions, Elite 4, Gym leaders, mass murderers, etc with good reputations would unknowingly benefit from this immensely.
>>58021294>Also under these rules degenerates innately lose aura since their fetishes are cringe.Cringe is weakness leaving the body. It is your own shame trying to tear itself out of your skin as you see another person who lives unafraid of their id.
I've got plenty to spare so I'm not afraid of losing a little aura. I'll leave such concerns to weaklings who need to cling to ever piece of confidence they can get their hands on.

>>58021387What's there to be scared of? Most fanfic writers and readers have already decided canon sucks anyways, so even if the reveals are even more sloppy and uninspired than we expected there won't be any harm in it.
Hell, look on the bright side. The shitter canon becomes the more receptive the fanbase will be to more deviating fanon. We might even get to the point where fakemons start being accepted if gamefreak keeps it up.

>>58025133Bummer its mega aint blue, would've been a perfect fit.
>>58024766Both. Make it randomly shift people, animals and pokemon between worlds (pokeworld is random locations and things, so it could be a random pokemon from Paldea, a trainer from KANTOOO, a rescue team of pokemon, members of an evil team, a warlord from Ransei, etc.). Focus on one to three people's adventures in the pokeworld with the occasional interlude in the real world focusing on the trainers and mons that have arrived on Earth and how they're changing the world.
>>58025062Because Kalos is both corrupt to its core and also one of the weakest regions. If it weren't for Paldea they'd officially be the weakest in the league, so they need every advantage they can get.
>Kalos now has rogue mega evolutions and alpha pokemon
Stronger trainers overall, then?
On the topic of Mega Evolution,
seeing as i'm not an oldfag in these generals,
What were the general thoughts on the exclusivity on megastones back in the day - in-universe wise?
Should the stones be more readily available, but at the cost of needing an indomitable will for longer staying power, mega wise?
>>58024190>pokeforum interludeWhere the hell did forum interludes come from?
I disappeared from the FF scene for a couple of years and came back to find that a large chunk of the new fics I read have forum reaction interludes with ludicrously strict mods, conveniently identifiable user handles, and the occasional handle that seems to be a reference to other stories.
>>58025674Gamer/Hunter/etc manhwas mangas etc popularized them and eventually infected the west. Some fics throughout the many franchise started using them, some of those fics found success, and it snowballed from there. Now any setting that has internet is doomed to have internet reaction chapters, often which are forum reaction chapters despite the fact forums are out of vogue.
>>58025663IDK about oldfags but I prefer their function to be introduced late-game in stories.
>>58025674The trend started with a canadian capeshit story called worm which got REALLY popular in fanfics and now those forum chapters infect other fandoms. This gimmick is basically a mutation of those scenes where side characters glaze the MC, which a lot of readers eat up.

>guarded secrets>publicly wary populace due to pokemon going berserk>an expensive commodity Usually around that. Also Mega D-nite is shit, how do you fuck up such an easy design
>>58025663>>58028761My take on them is that they're simply expensive and considered an extravagance nobody but the highest tier of trainer really has use for. You might find one on your own if you're a dedicated trainer and out in the world searching for where mega stones can form, but most people simply have to purchase them at prohibitive costs.
>>58029019A lot of Pokédex entries imply many of the Mega Forms are hard to control or dysfunctional long term so it makes sense to intepret a skill gate to it too. Lucking out on a stone is rare but you also need a good affinity with your Pokémon and be a competent trainer to make use of it.
Rogue megas are going to be fotm for fics, mark my words.
>>58029160I imagine they’d be regulated in some form or hidden away by the League to prevent inept rich tards from using them.
>>58025648>>58029300The danger ranking for gimmick raid shit is probably Dynamax > Mega > Tera.
We haven't seen how mega raids will work but Dynamax pokemon are insanely broken. Their attacks go through protect, nothing goes past their Max Guard (even cheating shit like Unseen Fist), and every single one of their attacks does shit like change the weather or affect stats. They're also fucking gigantic, which changes the nature of how to approach them, and lets them cause way more devastation. They justhave too much stuff going for them. Tera pokemon behave pretty much as normal in comparison, so I think the rogue Mega boost will likely trump them.
How do I avoid cringe or do I just completely embrace it?
>>58030078Stop giving a crap about cringe. Be sincere.

>>58030078What kind of cringe are we talking here? Some kinds of cringe can be embraced but some kinds of cringe should always be killed.
Schizo theory, but the mega shards and rogue megas have me thinking that there will indeed be an "A" legendary and it's the cause of those two things.
Mega stones in XY were caused by the energies used in the Ultimate Weapon, which is also related to the Aura Trio.
Zygarde is in Lumiose because the "A" legend is causing weird mega shit to happen.
>>58030102>overly simplifiedMC fucks up (for a long time), finally realizes he fucked up and the extent of it, and the only in-character way I see him handling it is either going full edge-lord or having a mental break down.
I'm tempted to just scrap the chapter entirely and kick the can down the road honestly
>>58029957The gimmicks are a sliding scale from apocalyptic to barely an inconvenience.
>Dynamax makes mons huge and grants Max Moves>Z power makes mons a little bigger over a long period of time (Totems), boosts stats, and grants Z Moves>Mega increases base stats and often gives more powerful abilities>Tera is just type shenanigans
>>58030182We already have an A, also know as the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the architect of all creation, Holy Arceus hallowed be His name.
>>58030198That one depends on the execution. I've read a lot of non-pokemon stories where good MCs snap and go full edgelord, slaughtering entire clans down to the chickens and dogs and even going as far as uprooting the grass and salting the earth.
I think the best thing to do is to ask yourself: Does this feel like a man who's been pushed past his breaking point, or does it feel like a child in rebellious phase throwing a tantrum?
>>58030198oh, and I forgot to add most people love revenge porn. It's the whole reason Ash BETRAYED stories were so popular and it's even a major component to These Silver Eyes. So, even if it feels like a child in a rebellious phase it can still work. Really depends on the execution.

so called """primal""" evolution is just another form of mega evolution spurned by a pokemon's bonds with it's trainer
there's nothing ""primal"" about it
if ""primal"" is stronger why are fossilmons not all pseudos
if every legendary can just go ""primal"" to revert back to it's ""original"" power then why does ghetsis need the dna splicers and kyurem to enhance one of the tao trio, why didn't it just go ""primal""?
the creation trio ""origin"" forms is the same thing just with the trainer bond stretched through space/time/hell to enhance the pokemon regardless of when/where/hell the trainer and pokemon met
primal evolution isn't real
dynamax and terrawhatever are just mega evolution
>>58030774>you mean to tell me that kyogre is so old that it watched all this happen, watched the birth of everything, saw life itself evolve and flourish, etc. etc.>but has the same bst as slaking?Yes. >>58030792>>58030812>citing old rough drafts that didn't make it into the final productIt's time to accept it anons. But Arceus is still a runt, so her siblings all contributed their power to make her room nice and safe and didn't let her leave her room unless they're able to personally watch after her.

Emma in XY was running pokemon up to level 75. She was a reoccuring post game opponent so she already is E4 tier back in XY.
>>58034901nta but the game is designed around a linear level curve that doesn't take into consideration how much sense it makes in-world, it's a bit silly to use in-game levels as a basis for how strong an area is in-world.
>>58034901If the anime/game/whatever is now a real setting so to speak it would need to change a lot of things for it to be believable like dynamics between characters and their personality otherwise instead of being reborn it would be like being in a simulation, using NPC levels as some kind of golden rule is frankly ridiculous because they being so low level is mostly a way to make an easy game even more easier since exp share was a thing
Power levels are non-existent outside of primary confirmation.
If a character is stated to be strong, then they are strong.
If a character holds some kind of official title or rank which directly implies strength then they are strong.
If a character simply has high-level pokemon, then you need to ask questions about them such as "What Trainer Class are they? Are they an Ace Trainer? A Rising Star? A Veteran?", or "Does anyone in universe allude to them having notable strength? Are they perhaps part of an established Clan of importance or some such? Do they train Dragons perhaps, which are noted in universe to be harder than normal to train?"
>>58034112It probably is. I still kinda want a regional dex to represent what was introduced to the environment while they got it livable. Probably an emphasis on rock types, bug types, and fungi grass types, thinking about it. Which does make a type triangle too...
Maybe the regional 'dex is just what has a stable population in the wild, and others are 'mon brought in by trainers.

>>58034967>>58034990Yes, and? Someone said a character would need to be an arbitrary level of power to be able to perform a certain feat. I used the only measurable information, data from the game, to point out that she can reasonably fulfill the arbitrary requirement. What exactly is the problem here? Do you disagree for some reason? I just hope ZA inspires more stories, maybe with some capeshit elements thanks to Emma's suit because Pokémon fanfics are stuck in Kanto, Hoenn and Sinnoh
>>58036370>locked to a single city in the modern era>mostly characters that nobody gives a fuck aboutThe only thing it'll inspire is shipping.
>>58036383This lol.
It being set on Lumiose alone killed all of its chances.
You will get ***character drama*** at best and why scrape the bottom of the barrel for Pokemon when anywhere else you can find it a million times more in both quality and quantity?
Best you can hope for is the new lore for things like Zygarde being used on Kalosfics. And of course the new Megas becoming mainstays.
>>58036370It'll be used as extra content for Kalos fics.
>>58036746>>58036383>the capital of the country is le boring Sorry they couldn't fit Route 2 into the game champ
>>58037347It's Kalos. The capital is the most boring part. The ONLY good thing about it was the 5 second Hex Maniac interaction that spawned a decade of fanart.
Everything else? Bleh.
Hell, after all the time I spent there hatching eggs, I'd prefer to play a game set on Kalos Route 7.
>>58036370Unfortunately I was working on my fic that begins in Lumiose and heavily features characters that appear in Z-A well before we knew anything but the initial reveal, and ironically it will be leaving Lumiose around the time the game launches.
>>58038235Finished a chapter yet champ-in-the-making?
>>58036370Capeshit could be interesting for the "one city" setting, but it would likely involve the MC having two separate teams of Pokemon (unless they're not publicly a trainer so they don't have a whole other thing going). Maybe the trainer is some elite trainer with a mostly developed team and gets roped into something by a character and masquerades as a developing trainer, doing the ZA Clash when they're not Aura-jumping off rooftops. There are plenty of enough villains and potential for people who need to be defeated for various reasons.
>>58036383You can always add more characters, whether OCs or characters that could fit in with the setting. Maybe Lumiose City invites international teams of trainers to the ZA Royale and trainers have to team up for certain competitions (or the entire competition involves teaming up with other trainers).
How do you guys think Vigilantism is viewed in the Pokémon world? Since many of the Protagonists openly engage in it, just without an elaborate costume.
>>58038653Well it depends on the level of realism you have in your story. I know "muh realism" is a meme in this thread (rightfully so for the most part, fuck you licenses), but organized groups running around nefariously with little to no sort of push back or crackdown is unrealistic.
If you're in a more realistic setting, there's law enforcement, there are active forces enforcing the status quo, and vigilantes wouldn't be welcome in that setting (unless the forces that be are doing nothing about the issue the vigilante is trying to fix). If you're embracing the utopian fantasy aspect of Pokemon where "why do we need law enforcement when almost everyone is a good person" is the world's standard operating procedure, then vigilantes would be worshiped like heroes.
>>58038653Vigilantism? In a world where you're obligated to fight someone if you make eye contact we just call that hello. No need for this 'tism stuff.
>>58038731>realismI'm biased as a fantasy fag no doubt. My main problem with fics that do this is that they try too hard to ape our own world with just Pokémon plastered on.
>>58038623>Aura-jumping off rooftopsThat sounds cool
>>58038731>why do we need law enforcement when almost everyone is a good person"I don't like this one, looking at some grunts they join to do evil shit
>>58038775I agree, there are interesting ways you can still keep the "Pokemon" aspects of the franchise without it just being IRL crap.
>>58038780>>Aura-jumping off rooftops>That sounds coolIt was the first thing I thought of for making vigilante/superhero stuff work unless you just use a Miraidon/Koraidon mount with a Rotom phone saving your butt like SV.
>>58038780>I don't like this one, looking at some grunts they join to do evil shitIt's the simplest explanation as to why evil teams are allowed to run amok. There are no major safeguards in place to prevent these things, meaning they happen incredibly rarely. It fits with the Pokemon world being relatively utopian, where 10 year olds are sent off into the wild on journeys with a starter and they have an assumed high survival rate.
>>58038799I like to see Team Rocket as having ties to law enforcement and officials because it just fits the Yakuza/Mafia gimmick which is why the coppers do little, the other teams... yeah IDK nigga.
Magma and Aqua should have been seal team six'd by the Elite Four before they tried to restructure the fucking planet.
>>58038799>buy 2 rotom phones>tape to shoesPOV: You're a grunt who sees me flying at you at the speed of Rotom.
>>58038853You could directly have the rotom take over your shoes and get a new rotom form. Only requirement is a kind of motor attachment.
>>58038838Flare, Galactic and Aether are giant corpos so they make sense, Devon too and they were supposed to be the ones that wiped Zinnia's clan.
Plasma sounds like some religious cult so maybe the autorities didn't pay enough attention beyond the obvious until they got N and his legendary which at that point was already too late.
Rose owns Galar too and he moved everything with his money.
Aqua and Magma tho, that's hard to defend
>>58038889Didn't oras do something to tie Aqua/Magma to Devon?
>>58037347>going to Kanto for Saffron>Going to Johto for Goldenrod>going to England for London>going to France for ParisBut falling into generic urban hellhole tourist traps isn't the problem here. The problem is that it's a "Legends" came set in a generic urban hellhole tourist trap.
We're not gonna be getting any "legends" from this one, at best AZ and the redeemed villains are gonna hint us stuff we've long already known. No world lore, no character lore, no exotic landscapes, no wild habitats, just a bunch of city blocks and pokemon living in designated ghettoes.
>>58038895Pretty sure Aqua/Magma was closer tied to the (now partly defunct) Mauville Corp. It'd make sense for Mauville Corp to be more Team Magma aligned as they seem to be about improving the lives of humans, land expansion at least idealistically lines up with that.
I could see the Draconids being cool with Team Aqua, as resetting a world that use Infinity Energy could be justifiable to certain hardliners, and the Draconids would likely be able to survive things. Maybe Archie's a Draconid descendant, would explain why he's browner in ORAS where the Draconids are present

>>58039653Yeah, they were murderhobos that got tricked into doing cuck shit so they wouldn't keep murdering each other.
>>58039746Knightly courtship was very similar to how people simp for streamer thots. A lot of them didn't actually interact with the girl or get with them in the end, but they still worked really hard and dedicated their victories to the girl to cope with their loneliness.
It was so bad at times that knights would continue to dedicate themselves even when the lady married, because their knightly honor and love demanded they continue to remain loyal. It was the ultimate cuck shit
>>58039757they were just messing around
too drained to interact with women after raping many foreign girls while at war so they make a big fuck off forcefield
>>58039763The majority who were smart enough to realize the ideal knight was a glorified eunuch for a lord did that, yeah. But Wilkstrom fits the "ideal" stereotype of a knight, so him being a fag isn't far from the mark.
Compare him to Kamado, who wasn't knightly and only had a set of knight's armor. The difference in masculinity is night and day.

>>58040524>Wouldn't Kalos get btfo? They did. Kalos got dominated by a Unovan BVLL and never recovered.
>>58040524Zygarde didn't step in when AZ nuked the kingdom, nor did it step in when the war was occurring. Actually, what the fuck has Zygarde even done?
>>58040690Snake stuff, you wouldn’t get it
>>58040690In the grand scheme of things, why would Zygarde care? So what if one or several dozen planets get nuked? Each universe has gajillions of planets, and there are bazingillion multiverses each with their own universe.
The snek's enjoying the show. Maybe he'll do something if the creation quadro try something on a multiversal scale.
>>58040537Honestly forgot about that area. Iirc it also had statues of the dragons in the main garden and that the guy who built the mansion was some conqueror. My headcanon would be that Kalos did try to invade Unova in the past but got blown the fuck up by the the brothers in the Unovan legend. Guy got btfo'd so hard he just had to built those statues out of respect.
>Kalos being afraid of unovacvcks
>when their legendaries are the literal embodiment of life and death
They RAPED Un*va so hard they built statues to commemorate how hard they raped them.
>>58038895Tabitha and Shelly were former Devon employees and responsible for the teams' suits. Since both become worried after assessing the data from the weather institute, I assume most involved with Aqua and Magma had benevolent goals in mind, while also being reasonable enough when faced with convincing counterevidence (at least the smart ones). Meaning, they were probably perceived as some questionable, but noble activist group by the public, just like Plasma. Until radical forces within the teams like the bosses Archie and Maxie were stubborn and took the risks despite it causing the end of the world or some admins Matt and Courtney planned to nuke (!) Hoenn / the world by blowing up the rocket filled with Infinity Energy in Mossdeep City. Just because their bosses were depressed... trashed the teams' reputation.
Also, the teams had to be in some way corporate entities as well. There's no way a poor nobody could finance this entire operation and "persuade" officials they're actually the good guys. If that's the case, then you can boil down all of the problems in the pokéworld with the government being lax and corrupt as fuck.
>>58041249Wait, this made me realize something. It seems so obvious in retrospect.
The reason we don't see any official governing bodies usually is because the pokemon world is run by oligarchs. Companies are the closest things we see to actual governing bodies. Kanto? Power split between the Indigo League and Silph Co. Team Rocket being able to get away with their behavior before the Saffron takeover is because they were for all intents and purposes the third largest corporate power in the region. Police seem powerless because they are nothing more than local peace keepers, it would be like a small town sheriff trying to stand up to Walmart. The highest form of governing roles we ever see are things like mayors because towns still need that local organization.
But it makes so much sense. Silph runs Kanto, Indigo has major control of Johto which is why Lance actually gets shit done there, Devon runs Hoenn. Unova has such a high degree of cultural mixing and corporate competition that no single company other than the League has major power (explaining why the Gym Leaders are so proactive there). The Tapus brought the hammer down hard on companies trying to get a foot hold into the region shown by the supermart. Rose pretty much runs the entirety of Galar with Macro Cosmos. Geeta's league seems to do the same for Paldea.
>>58041289>the pokemon world is run by oligarchsthen how is healthcare free?
>>58041290Big Joy is the world's largest superpower because even CEOs get sick.
More serious possible answer, Healthcare is free the same way soda refills became free in the US. Pepsi was so desperate to sell soda that they bought a fast food chain and offered free refills. This worked so wildly well that competitors were forced to also offer free refills, and since it was such and easy and cheap thing to do it quickly became the standard. Not providing free refills is seen almost as an offense by most customers now.
Healthcare in Pokemon is so easy and cheap to provide that the same thing could have happened.
>>58041199Xerneas and Yveltal wouldn't even watch as Kalos gets fucked by the twin dragons.
