I'll never understand peoples need for every Pokemon to be competitively viable. Furret's purpose is to be a beginner friendly cute mon who's quick, has okayish attack stats, has simple moves and evolves from Sentret early on. Then when you get more serious later in the game you box him and move on. Furret does this job perfectly.

Some Pokemon just aren't the best battlers, that doesn't make them useless. Furret is universally loved despite his combative shortcomings.
