It has been years since I last had to level up a mon to level 50 in Platinum
Back then, I believe the gyarados trainers west of Sunyshore were the fastest sources of EXP when compared to the Salamence trainer north of Resort Area, Elite Four R2, etc

Anyone have expertise on this topic though?

yeah just grind those guys
most vs seeker battles are alright xp anyway once they're at the highest level they can be
and don't forget lucky egg, pokeradar chaining makes it real easy to get

i wish this was gen 5 where battle facilities scaled levels up to 50 and not only down to 50.......

The gyarados guys are the fastest, but, once the mon youre raising can defeat a trainer north of solaceon that uses a happiny, she is faster....i think.....
i could try pokeradar-ing chansey too

if you're worried about realtime then a using a mon with clear body in the lead is probably the fastest option
cuts down the time-waste from the attack drop animation

either way I didn't time it but i did sum the exp

2,666 per happiny trainer
2,383 from the 2 gyarados trainer
1200something from the luxray rich guy near gyarados guy

More or less the same plus or minus intimidate / longer health bar animations vs. chance of elekid static with happiny girl

Pokeradaring for chansey sucks because it's initial encounter rate is only 5% so i guess vs seeker is overall better

THE best EXP farm is south of Veilstone, VS Seeker-ing the Eeveelution guy, if you can kill them on your own with a Lucky Egg, and before that with exp share it's gyarados guy

For Platinum I was recommended to VS Seeker the two Elite Trainers west of Veilstone, not sure how it compares to the Sunyshore ones other anons describe

I always trade to another game and just rematch the elite 4 and cynthia + lucky egg
There’s also the gym leaders you can rematch in the battle zone

if you're training mons for battle frontier then exp should be the least of your concerns
frontier mons have EVs so you should at the very least be training on mons that give the right EVs for your mon
like the tuber with three gastrodon on route 213 if you need HP
