Who likes random crits? It's not fun having a random crit happen to you. It's irrelevant if you get one because the game is quite easy regardless. You never want one with a Pokemon you're trying to catch.

Would anyone give a shit if this was removed? And I'm not talking about moves with crits built into them like Surging Strikes, but only random ones.

Random crits exist because without them defense stacking strategies (already strong, mind you) become even stronger. That said, I always felt like the opposite of a critical hit should exist too, for balance. A critical block that causes a move to deal 50% less damage.

they're a normal and good part of jrpgs. the amount they belong in pokemon is commensurate to how much the game is still a jrpg

Critical hits are essential as part of catch-up mechanics. A critical hit can turn a losing game, reducing premature resignations.

If you see someone setting up and your strategy is to get lucky, you deserve to lose desu.

>victory must be certain or its unfair
Lol. Lmao even. If your strategy can't survive a wayward crit then it was a shit strategy to begin with. You know crits are possible, so why aren't you planning for their possibility? There are literally abilities to prevent crits so your bitching about them just comes off as whining.

>turn opponent into a vegetable because he fell left and hit a hydrant, than falling right and rolling off
Almost as if it's truth in real life....

RNG is inherent to Pokemon. It's ultimately a game about risk management, if you choose to keep your Calm Mind Clefable or whatever in for 6 turns and it eventually gets crit that's your own fault, in the same way it's your own fault if you keep switching into Scald and get burned.

Yeah, sometimes you just get unlucky but that's the game. If you're actually good then your skill will mitigate the effects of bad luck over time, a Pokemon match only takes like 10 minutes at most anyways.
