For me, it would be a Larian-developed Pokémon turn-based-tactics CRPG (in the style of Baldur's Gate 3). Pokémon speed determines bonus to initiative and how much distance they can move each turn. They would have to find a way to balance the game so that flying pokemon with ranged attacks can't just easily dominate ground-based monsters. This could make the game really feel like you're playing as Pokémon trainer and make it feel like how the world feels in the anime (telling the Pokémon where to go, what moves to use, etc.). Imagine attacks like solar beam that take a turn to charge: 1) if you're the attacking trainer, you can order your Pokémon to a position where it's protected from an attack during the charging turn; 2) if you're the defending trainer, you can order your Pokémon to hide behind a tree or a rock formation during the charging turn. The position-based tactics of Pokémon battles would make it feel so fun.

What do you guys think? What would your ideal game be like?

Pic related, some rediter rendered their remaining of Pokémon Red as a CRPG, but I'm imagining something with higher graphical fidelity like Baldur's Gate 3 visuals.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon set up like Final Fantasy Tactics (the original in story quality and A2 for classes and guild stuff), with the gameplay of something like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but a bit more polished. Pixel art is a must

Pokemon Stadium 3 with all mons, the same announcer with tons of new lines, lots of new minigames to compete in and an entire new RPG Mode like Colosseum, but with old beloved Trainers, Gym Leaders and E4 alike appearing.
Obviously it being Stadium I would want it to keep the same detail to animations when they're sent out, in-battle and before fainting.

I know we're getting Champions but it being a mobile game I can tell it won't have even half as much soul as the proper Stadium 3 would.

Dream game is too big, I'll be typing for years.

So instead, dream mechanic. I want to be able to ride EVERY pokemon across a huge open world, with each pokemon have their own riding mechanics. And the riding mechanics are fun and awesome and fluid, kinda like playing a Jet Set Radio game of kinetic speed.

I want a lifesim/nintendogs clone. Adopt and raise a pokemon at home and train it, take it around the neighborhood to do various activities, prepare for competitions be they contests or battle tournaments, decorate your house, dress up your pokemon, and build relationships (be they friends, rivals, or full on enemies) with the townsfolk, slowly work yourself up to a full team. Something like Hey You Pikachu or Channel but with a lot more gameplay content, good, and a lot more "pet" options than just pikachu.

sort of like Pokemon Emerald except you're given a stage 1 pokemon that can evolve of your choice of all the I-III gens that's obviously not a legendary, and it's your highly interactive buddy, that changes its expressions and animations based on it's nature, but like HGSS it's always walking with you and the game is less about battling and more of a focus on exploring/survival/friend-simulator and you being an aspirational trainer in the style of whatever the pokemon type that you picked, so like Slugma--> Fire trainer.
Most of the game is about the worldbuilding and then battling after, so talking to NPCs who each have unique dialogue options, doing jobs with your pokemon, so like if it's a water pokemon, you can do fishing, if it's a fire pokemon, you can do cooking, if it's a poison pokemon you can rummage through the trash, grass pokemon can farm etc. You get different items that you can trade. 3D but stylised to look like the first couple of seasons of the anime.

Might seem too ambitious but here are my ideas:
>Action RPG with challenging, real-time combat; team-building is critical
>human-less setting loosely inspired by PMD. Most evolve-able species are playable and can be your partner
>Fully realized open world with a grand sense of adventure; unprecedented freedom
>Morality/reputation systems, factions etc.
>Go alone, or with friends; you can also borrow their partner/party Pokémon (like Dragon's Dogma pawns)
>New Game+ unlocks more Pokémon, areas and challenges; infinite replayability

For a universe as rich and vibrant as Pokémon, it doesn't make sense to forever confine it to being a turn-based RPG. The films, the anime, and artwork are a much better portrayal of what's possible.

The lack of humans is a personal preference, but since the Pokémon are the ones doing the battling and advancing the plot, then humans aren't entirely necessary. I believe having both this and real-time combat allows for a greater sense of agency and better portrays Pokémon as living things (as opposed to fighting dogs/animal-shaped weapons).

TL;DR Open world, real-time action RPG, PMD-like setting

There's a million diffrent ways it could go wrong, and if it ever did happen, we'd probably see its worst case scenario be realized, but I would just adore a Pokémon MMORPG featuring every major region in an inter-connected world.

If it were my vision the game was based on, it would be a top-down, pixel-art game in the style of RSE/FRLG, though I'm sure if it was every realized, it would probably look closer to SV...

my dream pokemon game:
>Xenoblade-style semi-open world format divided into separate zones, not open world. It's a completely undiscovered region with no prior human presence
>You are a pokemon researcher assisting the region's professor in researching the ecology of this new region
>The goal of each zone is to chart the food chain and the habitats of each pokemon. In order to do this you have a camera with which you need to record photographic evidence of predation, nesting, foraging, etc. for each species.
>At first these interactions are very easy to notice, for instance you can just observe a bug type for long enough and eventually a flying type will come to hunt it, but later in the game these interactions become a bit more difficult to come across as the pokemon themselves become stronger and smarter, eventually you'll also need to map an apex predator's entire daily routine meaning you have to follow it all day without getting spotted
>In order to coax some of these interactions out of the pokemon, you need to build traps or decoys otherwise you will not be able to witness them.
>You can also catch pokemon, but after you've used one of its field moves or battled with it, you have to release it (probably with some exceptions or a mechanic for players to be able to keep their favorites)

(2/2)
>Some pokemon are extremely rare or overly common and this might interfere with your research, so you can slightly even the odds in your favor by hunting a particular rare species's predator. If you do so, their prey's population will increase, but watch out as the populations of competing predators will also increase.
>There is combat, as some pokemon are territorial and you need to defend yourself. Some pokemon are pack hunters so you need a strong party, while others are simply too powerful and you need to use moves like Substitute, Mud-Slap or Teleport in order to escape.
>Additionally, it is your responsibility to stop poachers who sneaked into the region unbeknownst to your research party, by having pokemon battles against them.
>The final boss is the legendary of the region who is the absolute apex predator, and not only do you need to map out its habits and biology, you also need to fight and catch it.

basically Legends Arceus if the game actually had some focus and didn't look like it belonged on the PS2, with a little bit of Pokemon Snap, Pokemon Ranger, and Monster Hunter.
