About 99.99999999999% of arguments against the new Mega for Dragonite seem to come from people who hate Dragonite. Like I'm sorry, if you don't like the base Dragonite design then OF COURSE the new Mega wouldn't be for you.

It's funny because most of the argument I've seen coming against it (most of the changes are only in a few areas/most of the body and proportions are too similar/the same) but that legitimately applies to several of the first two rounds of Megas (Ampharos and Kangaskhan particularly) and I don't remember a fraction of the vitriol being flung at them.

Pretty sure it's not, and if it is, it doesn't look as strange due to being shorter. The proportions are off. If the goal was to invoke Dragonair, they should have slimmed the tail down a bit. I don't really have critiques beyond that.

It's not really a defense of it, it's more an observation. My defense of it is that I think the new design details successfully give it a shot of elegance and flow that was admittedly lacking before in a way that doesn't spit on the base design's clear aims to lean into goofiness and rounded shape language in a stark contrast to the power it actually boasts when used in-game. I'm not goin to sit here and pretend it's a perfect mega or some shit (I think some blue accents, as overused as they are in fan designs, would've done the tail some good) but acting like it's a god awful terrible return for Megas when it's just applying one of the several design philosophies past Megas did is fucking asinine

I wanted it to be even more Dragonair-like and was disappointed it only got a tail orb and headwings. Making it more green would've been pretty, like an actual nice shade of green and not its muted shiny green. Blue would've been interesting too. The other extra feathers and shrunken regular wings are silly in a "this sure is a goofy mega design" disappointment way.

They moved the horn lower but they didn't think to make it unicorn-like. There's just so much wasted potential. I like mint chocolate chip OP, but they made it extra toothpaste mint flavor instead of more chocolaty.
