Any tier list that doesn't have mega Gallade in at least high tier or above is a bad list, regardless of the other placements.

I'm a biased little bitch and I love Garchomp, but being more logical, Sharpedo's mega just feels way too subtle of a change, and not in a way where a unique concept is added ontop of the design like Kangaskhan and Sableye

Only two I seriously like are beedrill and banette. As one of the only beedrillfags ever I feel fortunate it not only got a mega, but one of the best ones in my opiniin.

did anyone else notice there've only been two electric-type Megas so far? Only Manectric and Ampharos. Really weird, I wonder if Z-A is going to try and rectify that.

Manectric is my favourite pokemon. The mega was an insult to its design.

Lopunny's is my favorite, just because the jump in quality from the base form is so fucking massive. It's a 180 from weak bitchass furbait to a ghost-punching warrior. I think Salamence and Manectric are very underrated - Salamance doubles down on his flying obsession and Manectric is a cool ass lightning bolt.

I should probably explain. Everything above C is cool, and gives credence to mega evolutions unlocking the hidden potential of pokemon and expanding their strengths and pushing their designs forward in a way that shows off their unleashed potential.

Everything below B are just derivative design and cultural memes. Some of them are straight up tropes, like shoujo princess Diance.
C barely gets a pass, but its obvious they're there for favorability than design. Heracross and Pinsir could've been pushed further, Slowbro is literally ass, Scizor degrades a design, Venusaur could've been done better, Charizard Y is unnecessary, Glalie is weak, they're C tier.
D is ass, all of it. Alakazam and Medicham are unnecesary Hindu memes (If I can tell they designed it with real cultural motifs, then it's bad design), Kangashkan breaks the pokemon permanently because now the baby is part of the design rather than it's own thing, Mewtwo X/Y degrade the OG design by making a "further beyond" movement to an already ultimate pokemon, the rest are just bad filler.

Mega Gengar looks scary

Gengar looks like a cool goofy ghost, which is fine, but mega Gengar looks like a malevolent shadow monster emerging from the abyss. It's shit-eating grin makes it abundantly clear that it's after your soul like how the base version was portrayed in the dex. Having shadow tag adds to this both thematically and in its gameplay. The third, all-seeing eye, presumably the source of its terrifying ability, immediately tells you there is no escaping this ghastly ghoul. You see mega Gengar and your face turns white as you are instantly overwhelmed by feelings of pure, unadulterated dread. It is the very last thing you ever want to see in a blind singles battle.

Mega Gengar is not only a 10/10 mega, but is also what many ghost should strive to be

No, it means the design fails in practice. Like moving around and doing stuff in battle. The anime even highlights it and turns it into a nonfunctional design which kills the idea of it being a super form. It’s fine as a design and maybe even clever, but it doesn’t work outside of a static vidya RPG setting which is in and of itself abstracted.
