I think an argument for Chikorita can unironically be made. Little boys are generally adverse to using feminine looking pokemon, and this was especially the case 25 years ago when it was normal to call everything "gay".

Dragonite is a reach though, the position of the head wings just looks odd. I wouldn't describe it as being overtly feminine, just out of place.

I assumed that people didn't like it because of its unoriginality and the big wings on its head that are too on the nose. That's it. I don't hate it but I don't have any strong feelings towards it either. However it makes me wonder what Mega Dragonite could have been.
I don't get both sides of the argument. On one hand, you get people who hate it a lot even though it's literally just a pair of wings on Dragonite's head. It changes so little that at this point it's just Dragonite (which is criticizable, I don't like how uninteresting the changes are).
