You press the revive to your pokemon's forehead and you spray the repel on yourself and your pokemon so wild pokemon don't approach.

Your post made me to look up the meaning of the word suppository, now I now what it means.

And I just have to ask. Why? Why is it inserted in that specific why? Why would a Revive be a suppository?

It's described as medicine.
I think it's basically crystallized honey with a 5-hour energy styled cocktail mixed in.

Fainted doesn't mean they're unconscious, just too tired to battle.

Let's be for real: what is the Revive (and Max Revive) actually based on? Nothing in Pokemon isn't a reference.

I think I saw somewhere depicted once that they open in the middle and have some liquid inside that you pour in the mouth of the mon. I don't remember where I saw it, probably adventure manga.

You twist the upper part from the lower part to open the fancy designed bottle. Open the pokemon's mouth and empty the bottle. The pokemon's now revived.
If that doesn't work, go to a vet.

But how to use it on the Pokémon if the Pokémon automatically shrinks when fainted?! As is written in the lore since the beginning, pocket monsters. Maybe just bath it instead? Because it would be pretty hard to feed anything to a shrunk fainted animal like that...

I'm pretty sure they dropped that early on, as there are numerous instances of Pokemon fainting without shrinking, and Legends Z-A just has them get dizzy when you KO them
