Can someone please explain to me why they refuse to rebalance this type?

They made all kinds of defensive-spec fire types, yet seem to be completely unaware that fire is a defensive abomination. It only resists types that are weak or barely attack anyway, and it's weak to several great attacking types, on top of being weak (and not very effective against) the most common type in the entire series. Who is ever going to use a defensive ice type?
While it's pretty useful offensively, the problem is all the main moves are commonly learned. Fire moves can be used by all flying types and all dragons, it's also a very common coverage type (Hidden Power, Flamethrower). This further diminishes any incentive to have a fire type in your party.

Name a single good fire type Pokémon that isn't either; 1. A legendary/mythical. 2. A starter.

No, Volcarona doesn't count. If Volcarona doesn't count for the bug type, it doesn't count for the fire type. Not to mention, every single good fire type Pokémon is either 4x weak to stealth rocks, or has a 4x weakness of some other kind.

Fire resists fairy. The top 1 Poké in VGC is fire type, despite not being fairy resistant. Your opinion has no basis, therefore this is a useless thread.

What are you talking about? You've got it all backwards. Fire has always ironically been a decent defensive type. What holds it back is having some of the worst weaknesses. That's why when paired with a type that covers them, it's usually a really good mon.

It's almost as if fire/flying and bug/fire are actually good types despite the stealth rock weakness

If it wasn't for Stealth Rock Volcarona would be relatively strong. There was a point where it actually has been. I forgot the gen though.

>6 fucking resistances
>defensive abomination
Fuck off
Is literally every type except steel a "defensive abomination" just because it has a single digit number of resistances/immunities
>muh common weaknesses
Steel is weak to 3 common attacking types (fighting, fire, and ground) and yet it's still widely considered to be one of the best types in the game, up there with fairy type despite "common weaknesses"

>Also this specific mon doesn't count because it just doesn't, okay?

For those who didn't know, Fire actually didn't actually resist Ice in Gen 1. That makes it kind of funny that despite the handicap Typhlosion was given it maintained a shit popularity status even though it was the obvious best starter pick of GSC. 'Muh allegations' was ironically the strongest popularity boost it has ever gotten.

>Ignoring not fully evolved pokemon because, duh
Why, because you've never played Little Cup? It's a format dating back to Stadium 2.
>Houndoom has always been a shitmon
Houndoom was one as one of the best pursuit trappers in the 2D era. Tyranitar, and eventually Scizor may have been better, but Houndoom allows you to free up a vital TTar set and nearly blank Gengar in gen 3 thanks to flash fire's will-o-wisp immunity and early bird's ability to check hypnosis. It has very specific roles, but it performs them very well. In gen 4, it's a powerful nasty plot sweeper in UU, one of the greatest metagames of all time, that can also act as a lethal lure to bulky water types if it has a passho berry. Its pursuit game also becomes even stronger thanks to sucker punch creating dangerous 50/50s scenarios.
>Arcanine has been pretty good, it's hisuian form is much more of a gimmick
It's widely agreed upon that Hisuian Arcanine is a straight upgrade over the original in both singles and doubles for STAB head smash and rock slide respectively. Fire/rock type's bad defensive typing is heavily mitigated by terastilization, often into grass.
>eviolite Magmar
It's used as a bulky fire type with follow me in VGC. It was very good in Regulation H.

It's heavily speculated that Heatran was originally going to be the second pseudo in gen 4 as a direct sequel to Metagross, but the pre evos were cut due to the games' many complications during development. There were still hints to this in the final release as Heatran was not only treated as a semi-rare pokemon in the ashime (which was planned years in advance back then), was the only legendary in the game to have a 50% gender ratio, and most importantly, explains DP's infamous lack of fire types as if a major fire type line was cut from the game

>Why, because you've never played Little Cup? It's a format dating back to Stadium 2.
None of the pokemon you even named are better than Sneasel, which has been banned from virtually every LC tier that there is

>Houndoom has a niche therefore it's a great pokemon
By comparison to Jynx, Cloyster, Mamoswine, Weavile? It's nothing. Not even Mega Houndoom was viable in a real tier

My point is that there's no criticism you can make of Ice that you can't make of Fire, not really

Also I don't care if Heatran was intended to be a legendary or not when it was initially designed, it absolutely is a legendary now

I don't know why people think every type has to be the same, but more importantly I don't know why there's such an obsession with ice in particular being bad when it's realistically not even the worst type even statistically in term of just representation in top formats
