Where Gems even revealed before release? A big part of a gimmick is it being attention grabbing, and the gems very much aren't that. They're great items but they're not something that would excite anyone but the competitive playerbase.

Yes. The gems and the sound effects in that gen's pokedex reminded me too much of Spyro, who I love from the bottom of my heart, but it nonetheless took me a bit out of my immersion.

The gems were nerfed from 1.5x to 1.3x but they were not removed from the gen 6 games' code. They were just never made obtainable, other than the normal gem. There was also a fairy gem in the games' code.
