Thread question: do you personally allow legendaries in your runs?

Day 73

I left Lumiose City and began my exploration of the Kalos region in earnest. Along the way, I caught a Doduo, and my Chespin evolved into Quilladin, giving my team a solid boost. Unfortunately, my new Doduo didn’t last long—falling to a trainer’s Kadabra. Still, there was progress to celebrate as my Squirtle evolved into Wartortle.

Not long after, I caught an Espurr, but tragedy struck again when both Ledyba and Bunnelby were lost in a double battle against two trainers and their relentless Furfrous. Pressing on, I made my way to Parfum Palace in search of the Poké Flute, which I needed to wake a massive Snorlax blocking my path. With the flute in hand, I cleared the road and took the opportunity to catch a Croagunk before continuing my journey. My next destination: Ambrette Town.

been going through Blue on VC. Slash is OP and Wigglytuff hits like a truck. It's been the ace of my team so far. absolute unit.

Didn't realize you were going through the routes that quick. That battle is notorious, you're fortunate to only have lost two team members. Be careful on route 8, right at the beginning of it is a trainer with a Dragon Rage Axew.

The Desert Resort, despite being named as such, was not much of a resort. It was QUITE the desert, though.

Rustling in the sand by the shore, a Sandshrew wanted in on what was going on. Maybe not willingly at first, but hey, a Quick Ball works WONDERS in changing Pokemon minds.

Inside Relic Castle, progress was stifled by quicksand, halted by know-it-all mentalists, and a little Sandile wormed its way into the party. Not our hearts. The party. Gator Bob will have to wait his turn.

Then disaster fell in the bothersome sunset--what would've been seen from the sandstorm, anyway--as Lu<3cy was too eager to throw hands with another mentalist's Yamask. After surviving on 4 HP from the ghost's assault, some grains of sand got in her nostril, and she gagged violently until dropping to the ground. ...I bet she was one level or two away from evolving...

Anyway, now for the sporty-stylings of Nimbasa City! To the west, I GUESS we'll take Manilow, the Minccino with the Skill Link (I still doubt his survivability with me, so I'll wait until I can find a Shiny Stone); to the east, a two-fer! I was thinking about cured deli meat when I caught the Solosis on Route 16, hence the Portuguese word for prosciutto. And in the Lostlorn Forest...

A male Combee.

Like Optimus Prime said in regard to Wheelie, "he can stay and guard the base (PC)."

Running my first Nuzlocke in a long time and I wanted to try my hand at a ROMhack. Based on a little research PureRed seemed to fit the bill for me, with minimal changes to the base game beyond adjusting a few pokemon types, their move sets and improving encounter diversity. That being said, it looks like I'm starting out with a pretty heavy leaning towards Poison, and it looks like Brock might be kind of tough.

My Sandslash in my Yellow run was a crit machine with Slash, even took out Sabrina easily. That's what to expect with gen 1 jank, good and bad (like Rage preventing you from switching or Foxus Energy lowering crit chance).

Depends on when/if Hildegard learns Double Kick, or if she even gets it early enough. Good luck!

You should be past the worst of the early game now that everything is opening up. Not gonna claim Elesa as easy to deal with, but you have way more options with her compared to Burgh and before.

Day 74

I made my way toward Ambrette Town, catching an Inkay along the route. Upon arrival, I set out for Glittering Cave, riding a sturdy Rhydon along the rocky trail. Before entering the cave, I managed to catch a Helioptile, and inside the cavern, I added a Cubone to my team. Deep within Glittering Cave, I came across a suspicious group of goons belonging to an organization called Team Flare. After defeating them, I also recovered a Jaw Fossil before heading back to Ambrette Town.

From there, I continued on to Cyllage City, where I began training for my next gym challenge. During my preparations, I caught an Emolga to further round out my team. When I was ready, I challenged the Cyllage Gym Leader, Grant. Croagunk led against Amaura, landing a powerful Revenge that dealt heavy damage but became paralyzed in the process, prompting me to switch to Wartortle, who finished Amaura with a Water Pulse. Against Tyrunt, Cubone came through, landing a few well-placed Bonemerangs to secure the victory. With my second badge earned, I set off toward Geosenge Town.

Pretty smooth run of Grant, so congrats on that! Be careful on the next route, wild Sigilyph can mess you up this early in the game, and Refldctiin Cave has a Battle Girl with a Hawlucha that knows Rock Tomb.

Alright, got everyone up to at least 7 and things are starting to look up. Had a few close calls, forgot how dicey these early level grind sessions can be, but everything worked out. Aquinas is probably going to be pretty important for taking down Brock thanks to his acquisition of Absorb, but that also depends on it this hack gave Brock any ground attacks. Before closing out the session, I took on my Rival (Saladin) on Route 22. He had a lvl 9 Pidgey and his lvl 8 Squirtle, but I was able to maneuver around them pretty easily, especially thanks to the aforementioned Absorb trivializing Squirtle.
Tomorrow I'll take down Brock and try to make it through Mt. Moon.

Aye, and I do have some options like Zargon and Tiffany and maybe even Raid Shadow Legends if he feels like digging.

And as I now sit outside the Gym, I reflect on what was gained (a few levels, remembering I picked up Strength and bestowing it upon Chris, etc.), and what was lost...

Poor Manilow... Poor hideaway tutorial, Skill Link Manilow the Minccino... I DID SAY I had a bad track record of using/keeping Minccinos alive...

Next time, we're gonna make that fat-ass Elesa surrender to our dominance.
Connor.
