Did you know Digimon has more than one place you can go? Like actually multiple areas that look different and not just one city with some parks in it.

And the buildings all have their own models, they're 3d instead of cubes with flat textures. You can even go inside some of them!

And when the characters talk, you can even hear them thanks to something called 'voice acting'.

Oh, and Digimon has this thing called 'cut scenes'. Like when something happens... you actually see it. They don't just cut away, no fooling.

Obviously Time Stranger is better than ZA, which I won't even pirate. But I still have a few misgivings about the way they're using the digital monster idiosyncrasies:

This should happen mid-battle. De-evolving and taking alternate paths is interesting and worth a more central place in the battle system. IIRC, the PSP game based on the anime had this feature.
>Asynchronous turns
A lot of design space is killed by getting to choose your move on the spot. The GOAT Digimon games on PS1, Card Battle and World 2, recognized this, and were designed AROUND synchronous turns.

Recent games have been a lot better about this, but the explanations still come off as coy. A more structured "metaphysics" for how Digimon come about would cover-up a lot of the premise's missing depth.

The idea that Digimon are data is leveraged to make them expendable, when it should go the other way around: The fact that Digimon are modular should empower the devs to make each unique Digimon its own character. In other words, Digimon games should have main character party members.
