I wish they at least had a morr elaborate sidequest with her. Felt like they still left a lot unresolved with her story, and we have to fill in the gaps ourselves. Is being a detective what she definitely wants to do? What does she think about Looker and Xerosic these days? How does she feel about her life changing to dramatically in 5 years?

I wish they utlised her character more, felt like it's underulilized potential

Something that annoyed me is that there are trainers at rank B long before you reach it, so them not getting their promotion match just seems cruel for people that climbed so high. Why can't they promote to rank A and clear the Z-A Royale? Because the player has to obviously, but it still annoyed me.

So I thought that bumping everyone down a rank would solve the issue, saying that there's some wall at rank C that prevents people from ranking further, which is why there's no rank B trainers around, and thus why the Z-A Royale hasn't been cleared yet.

But what could be that wall? Then it hit me, what about a mysterious trainer with a Mega Latias that tracks down rank C trainers nearing their promotion match and crushes them, resetting their accumulated points down to 0? Nobody can defeat this trainer and nobody knows who they are, so nobody's been able to reach rank B. Some of the rank C trainers have an agreement to uncover the identity of this trainer.

This trainer is Essentia. AZ tasked Emma with guarding rank B until she found someone worthy in her eyes of shouldering the burden of Lumiose's safety, and none of the trainers so far meet her criteria. The player and the rival do, and after defeating Emma get their promotion matches to rank B. Then the player and the rival can have their final promotion match to rank A against each other, and the story continues as it originally did from there.

Weirdly small role considering her direct interest in Zygarde and how prominent she is at the begining. Especially dumbfounded by the fact that she never uses that super suit to do something cool at any point in the story, particularly at the end.
I do like her as a character and her butt is cute.
