They're solution to Feraligatr's lack of popurality is to replace it with Totodile, like what they're doing with Raichu and it's Pika Megas. It is one thing to say you don't like it because it looks silly. It is another to say it's good design, when it's intent is to erase what was once there.

It's not "erasing", but it IS admitting the original is just not worth it to people. Making Bigodile from its mega is the one hail mary to get people using the thing cf M-PikaRais. The base/earlier evo stages are by far and away more popular then the final stages, to at leat try and make people care to use the new megas by fully evo'ing shit.

It looks ridiculous most of the time and to make the gimmick work it must stretch its arms like they were made of rubber.
It's a silly concept shittily executed.

Imagine trying to cope that this design is good because its an example of Mimicry. This also fails because it is a Mega Evolution. Mega evolution isnt something that is naturally occurring outside of rouge which is something very contained, so there is no reason for gatr to evolve into his pre-evo. If it was some regular 4th evo it could make sense but being a mega ruins the concept entirely.

It's irredeemable. That's just not right for a Mega Feraligatr.

It's a dumb design that sacrifices the practical in-world ability and mobility of the pokemon for a visual gimmick that is totally irrelevant to the theme and design of the pokemon.

What about feraligatr or the totodile line has to do with randomly losing your arms and having an ornamental larger head?

I love Totodile. I think he's cute.
I like Feraligatr. I think he's cool.

I don't want my Feraligatr mega to be a big Totodile. I think that's stupid. I want it to make Feraligatr cooler. Even in concept, I really dislike it.

The execution of the art you posted is bad. The OG Mega Feraligatr hood is all the way in the back because it needs enough motion to reinforce its biting power. This design lacks emphasis on biting power. The design is just stylized to look cool.

I'm sick and tired of seeing people's take on Mega Feralgatr. If GameFreak wanted to make a cool, edgy Feralgatr, they wouldn't go for the hood concept period.

It isn't, but they could've added a bit more to actual feralligator's face even some markings would've been cool because it's literally still just feralligator but with a helmet. Though, it's mostly an unfortunate mishap with the 3d model, similar to Typhlosion. I hope they're able to correct it a bit going forward in future games
