It's been a long time since I played through the Wiiware games, and I think they are worth talking about, so I've decided I wanna try something. I've finished the (very short) story of this game before, but never played it for very long afterwards, so I'm going to attempt to get all recruits in this game. I HIGHLY doubt I will actually have the patience to do it, but I want to give it an honest attempt. I'll post updates in here to hopefully boost the thread and generate some discussion, because I have a lot to say about these games, and people seem to rarely discuss them.

I'm starting with Tempest/Arashi version, and to keep things interesting, I'll refrain from using Buddy Passwords at least until the end of the main story, just so I don't stomp the main game with level 50+ legendaries, shinies, and fully evolved mons. I don't expect this to be easy at all, as the main game is surprisingly tough due to it's short length, and recruiting everything is going to be its own ordeal entirely.

Wooper and Riolu are the choices for the first dungeon, I doubt either of them will be team mainstays as they aren't IQ groups B or H, but they should be strong enough to help with a lot of the main game. I am FAR from an expert in these games so maybe this is a completely suboptimal choice, but we'll just have to see.

I think there would be plenty of food options, that said berries are pretty robust with the stuff you can make with them, veggies and sandwiches do get eaten by pokemon so it wouldn't be unreasonable for the PMD universe to actually be able to produce baked goods not just bread but pies, cookies, sweets, soups/broth, curry/rice and some pokemon can make stuff like milk so cheese and dairy is on the menu as well, meat would be the awkward thing to handle in PMD, drinks like coffee and tea are possible too.

each type of pokemon would have a preferred taste, like fire types will like spicy stuff, ghost types like sour, fairy would like sweet and so on (though some individuals would break the mold), some pokemon wouldn't need to or would not be able to eat like artificial stuff like magamite doesn't seem like it would though it could feed on electrical energy

All 3 save files are set, time to start for real. Teddiursa will likely be a mainstay on the team for the entire game, don't know about the other team members. For now I'll roll with Wooper and Mareep, and I guess Riolu can stick around as well.

Stacking is unlocked. I have a LOT of issues with this mechanic personally, whenever I think about revisiting this game, this mechanic is usually the reason why I don't bother, I strongly dislike it because of how absurdly broken and overcentralizing it is. Any deaths in this playthrough are almost certainly going to be at the hands of an enemy stack after my own stack is toppled. Stacks are a huge part of this game's difficulty and feeling of unfairness, so for now, I'll continue on and hope i don't get screwed over by some dumb luck.

Time to stop playing for tonight, there hasn't been any noteworthy progress aside from recruiting a handful of random pokemon, and my Mareep evolving, which doesn't make much of a difference but it's still nice. The final 2 story dungeons (yes, the main story is only about 7 dungeons long, a majority of which are entirely optional anyway) will probably be a jump in difficulty, so tomorrow i'll tackle that.

I definitely haven't given up on the thread, but I haven't been posting like I used to because I've been distracted. But I've also been hesitant to talk about as much Clover related stuff as I'd like because I got it into my head that people don't like it and don't want to discuss that kind of stuff, which made me a bit sad. But if that's not the case I will resume trying to push conversation. I like talking about my lame OCs and thinking about them, even though I'm not writing because I suck.

Even though I haven't written it (or even started it) yet, it is canon that Team Petal-Purr have their first official Clover Guild mission at Moonlit Thicket. I haven't got any special ideas for the dungeon itself in mind, other than I know it is primarily ghost types. This is where Heidi learns Odor Sleuth for the first time and the team realises and has to come to terms with the fact they are jobbers and kind of suck at their job when out in the real world.
When it comes to using the dungeon in a story, go ahead and use it however you please, including describing it in more detail if you have ideas.

I like eyelashes(obviously), but I also believe in designing the eyelashes of each individual to help say something about the character and their personality. The cartoon that must not be named does this a lot and sort of inspired me to do the same.
>Blossom: has two short lashes that don't curl very much. This shows femininity, but in a more laid back, casual type of way.

>Shelby: one single spiky lash, resembling winged eyeliner. This shows a harsher, sharper personality and implies a little more toughness.

>Heidi: three long lashes that curl more dramatically and come up higher on her eye. This shows that she is the most "girly" of the three, with the most stereotypically female behaviour. These are the lashes of someone soft and delicate. Also helps indicate that she is the prettiest by conventional standards, she has the most "done". If Blossom or Shelby put on mascara, their lashes would look more like this.

Bonus round
>Val: Rounded, lashes that droop to the side, plus bottom lashes that also sort of droop. The eyelashes of a mother with adult children. Along with the drooped eyes and coloured eyelids that look like a mix of dark eyeshadow but also baggy, sunken eyes, they convey the eyes of someone tired, but content, while also showing her age. She is not young anymore, but still tries to look presentable.

While I'm already sperging, I kinda would love more discussion about the collab, whether anyone's working on something or struggling with ideas. I don't know if it's too spoilery to talk about at length, but I've been trying to find motivation to actually sit down and write a story for it, considering I already have a pretty good idea of the specific fears my characters would have to overcome. I sort of want to talk about it.
I'm also considering maybe forgoing writing altogether and instead making a short animatic to tell the story that way. But it would be set to a faggoty pop song nobody but me will likely appreciate, considering the demographic here.

youre right that it would feel forced to give wooper more flaws, but him being an overall good if not naive guy is totally fine. chespin has enough flaws that a less autistic wooper sidekick can work, and even then, character flaws are do-or-die for story writing.
That being said, clover guild does rely more on character flaws for stories than regular fiction, thanks to the slice of life tone and reliance on character interactions for drama. that's why the collabs are usually great, they introduce new stakes and situations for storytelling. I'd love to contribute to the Halloween collab but school is gobbling up all my time. I still like to check the thread every day, though, so I appreciate clover discussion.

There is nothing wrong with a story being short, I actually prefer a shorter story, as long as it gets to the heart of what it's trying to say. As long as it has a beginning, middle and end, it's a story and a welcome one at that.
>>58582422
I feel like I could take some of the blame for that, since I was one of the anons that wrote the intro story, yet have done nothing to help facilitate the bringing together of other anons to collab with each other. I also don't know how I would do it.
When it comes to ideas, I have the opposite problem: too many ideas and not enough motivation or skill to bring them to life. I wanted to make the goal of the collab something that would help writers get to the real core of their characters; what do they truly fear?
I might as well share my ideas for my characters to give a sort of example and maybe help spark something for those that are struggling.

>Blossom's fear:The lingering trauma of the Apple Woods fire, her inability to get over the "what if?" fears of everything and everyone she knows being killed and destroyed by a great disaster beyond her control. Also, inspired by pic related, reckoning with the idea that she almost certainly knows by now that Team Misfits caused the fire but, like Tony, wants to avoid confronting a painful inevitability.
>Shelby's fear:Abandonment/the breakup of her family. The idea that her parents might one day split up, meaning that she technically no longer has a mother and a sister. The fear that if that were to happen, Val and Blossom would stop treating her like family, because they aren't anymore.
>Heidi's fear:An enhancing of the many fears she is already very open about. That she is not good at anything and doesn't deserve a spot on the team. Also the knowledge that the haunting at the guild is directly caused by her mistake, and the fear that everyone will hate her for it and she will be asked to leave the Guild forever.
Anonymous No.58582620 [Report]
>tfw my colab story won't even focus on the team's fear

I'm explaining it away as them getting lucky with the spirit they ended up having to deal with. I've already done a few stories about chespin's fears, so going over it again would feel like he made no progress, or it'd be retreading old ground.

i sort of grew tired with my chars from the guild mainly because i'm busy writing an entirely different public pmd fanfiction that nobody (read: people in the single digits at an extremely slow trickle) reads and that i'm busy sculpting in to a giant hyper-obsessive void that is best kept sealed away for the purposes of tact and simplicity. then my hard drive had to crash a month ago (unrelated to my writings mostly thank fuck) which has further lowered my interest in writing for clover, which further makes me recoil into a tiny ball

i generally read the stories posted here rather than posting myself since what i write doesn't really mesh with the clover lore. since nobody's reading, i don't like to impose what isn't interesting either, because i could talk at length about the marvels of my pile of shit but considering the demographic and my sensibilities that's just a bad idea in general

i would be supportive though of random tidbits of clover chars being posted in the thread. general's gotta ride the wave of inactivity while there are no games right

It's cool to hear about your ideas with everyone's lashes. Character design is such an interesting subject.
>more discussion about the collab
I'm working on my entry, but it definitely won't be done by the deadline. It's been tough to write, and I feel like I need to finish writing an entirely separate story first, because the haunted guild story revolves around a concept that I've mentioned but never properly introduced. Predictably, said other story is also giving me trouble--I've been at it for a year and I'm on the 9th rewrite now.
It's yet another case where I write stories out of order and need to fill in the gaps... Honestly, for quite a while now, I've been feeling like I seriously fumbled my characters and their development by jumping around the timeline so much, resulting in plot holes and contradictions. If I could do it all over again, I'd write in chronological order and be sure to include an overarching narrative and character development.

Almost done with the story of Tempest/Stormy Adventure Squad. It seriously pisses me off that some people will just write these games off JUST because the story is subpar, without considering that Adventure Squad is a $10 (technically $30 if you get all 3) WiiWare game that has much more limited content. No shit it doesn't have a story that rivals the other Mystery Dungeon games. Imo, the cutscenes are pretty cutesy and goofy, and the Rumble models add a sort of janky charm to the scenes that make the story tolerable, even if it is pretty short and basic. The big downside is that story progress is not shared between all 3 versions, which means I will have to sit through the entire story and all the cutscenes 3 times in a row. Fortunately, the other 2 versions should be much quicker to complete as i can just use the same team which already has some levels on them. Anyway, time for the final dungeon.

Tempest Adventure Squad completed. As I expected, the final dungeon was pretty brutal, and I got really close to dying a few times at the end, but I did it first try. When you enter the postgame, you unlock a bunch of new dungeons all at once, I am pretty sure you just unlock the rest of the dungeons in the game, in fact, as there is no postgame story. You also get a freebie legendary of Entei/Suicune/Raikou based on the version, I guess they couldn't think of anywhere else to add the Johto dog trio. Now it's time to use some Buddy Passwords to get some new members, the most important one being the shiny Budew, who will become a permanent member of the team. I'd like to also get a Mantine as a permanent team member to finish the team, but it only spawns in Blazing version, in a postgame dungeon, at a -10% recruit chance, so unfortunately it'll be a bit before I can get my hands on one. In the meantime, I'll just be grinding out EXP on the team and points towards ranking up. I will still try to post about this playthrough if anything relevant happens, but the next few hours of playtime will just be spent finishing the other 2 versions' stories.

I still own Rumble Blast, it was the very first 3ds game i ever owned I think, it came with my 3ds all the way back in 2012. The cartridge is all chewed up because my dog got to it a long time ago, but it still works, lol. I haven't played it in a super fuckin long time, and I never beat it, but i remember it being decent. Rumble on the Wii is probably a little better just because of the 4 player local co-op, although that game is WAY more repetitive. Also, on the topic of Rumble models, shout out to Pokemon Ranch, for what it is, it's pretty kino.

Well, I can't say shit about the second reply, but the first one...

The badges can teleport Pokemon. Seems obvious you'd just teleport the crook back to your headquarters, where you'd theoretically be more well equipped to restrain them and also, in the case of a guild, surrounded by other Pokemon who can immediately assist you.

For restraining items, you've got tons of options. Stun, ban, blinker, sleep seeds, you've got all sorts of orbs such as foe-seal or the itemizer...
As for moves, I can't think of anything that disrupts Disable, and Disable does disable all moves on a Pokemon in the PMD world, instead of the last used move.

Given that the moves and items exist, there's probably also some sort of equipment you can assemble which also exists to restrain a Pokemon's abilities within a given radius, though we're not outright told that this exists as far as I'm aware.

Badges are honestly kind of a lore-breaker. So they're able to teleport you out, right? You can clearly do that when you finish a mission objective. You can also send team members back home. But then why can't you pull the entire team out at any time? Why do we need escape orbs? When you reach the end of a dungeon, you also don't teleport back, the narration and the animation says you go back. Why are the badges never used in any story moment? There's plenty of situations where having a button to teleport back home would be incredibly useful.

Badges are a gameplay tool, I don't think they were really considering lore implications when creating them, so trying to make sense of them is like trying to make sense of why someone sends you to retrieve an oran berry from the floor 20 of a dungeon and is willing to pay you three gummies for it.

You can hit "give up" in the UI to leave with the badge, but it also penalizes the contract.
In universe, I guess maybe the explaination is that the escape orb is just used as an excuse. "Uh, a Pokemon defending their home threw an escape orb at us so we have to visit another day."
Anonymous No.58588633 [Report] >>58588940
>>58588617
Hitting give up counts as fainting and you lose items/money. You can escape without using an orb and without losing items, but ONLY right after finishing a mission objective. You can't even do it if you finished a mission and decided to go further. It really makes no sense.

Considering how quickly items wear off, you’d need a mountain of items to keep the criminal restrained until you get back to town. I don’t think relying on consumable items is feasible. And most Pokemon don’t have access to restraining moves like Disable.
As for badges, I always assumed they only work in dungeons. They can teleport you outside, but they can’t be used to warp back to your base when you’re outside a dungeon. For what it’s worth, I think this is how they’re portrayed in Clover Guild. I remember several stories where characters need to walk or ride home after a dungeon, and no stories where they use a badge to teleport right back to Capim.

I too assume that badges only work inside dungeons and only teleport you outside rather than giving you a free ticket home on demand.
As for the Badge vs Escape Orb thing, I assume that using the badge teleports you without your items, so it is more of a last-resort.

Still, for writing I prefer to just not acknowledge the badges as having teleportation properties, otherwise it would take tension away with characters always have that "get out of jail" card.
Same for Reviver Seeds and most Wonder Orbs. They are so convenient/powerful that you would have to constantly write excuses as to why the characters aren't carrying a lot of them at all times.

Came up with something for this: Apricorn rope, made from braided apricorn husk. Very hard to break out of and weakens any Pokemon in direct contact with it. The strength of the rope varies with the color of the apricorn. Stronger Pokemon can break out of weaker ropes, so stronger ropes are given out to higher-rank outlaws. Making these ropes is a serious specialty, and apricorns themselves are rare, so usually only guilds and local authorities have consistent access to them.

Also of importance is the Golden Mask, which apparently spawns as a reward for a specific mission type, and/or the Friend Bow from a postgame dungeon.

And two years ago, I drew my interpretation of AWD wearing items, including some of their species' exclusive items. I don't think I ever included exclusive items in a published story, though. Finding trawl orbs is gonna be huge here so i can steal from as many shops as possible using Gold Ribbons to make a lot of money, which gets spent on gummis and chocolates. that image was posted in the vp AI image thread alongside a request for "after-sex cuddles" of the two, and (assumedly) the same coomer posted his shipping fantasies between Adrian and Kiyo a few times in here. you can find it all on the archive pretty easily.
In general, kiyo has a history of being lusted over by anons outside the thread.

The ironic part is that it would fit with the character in canon. being crushed on and mistaken for a girl seems like it was originally meant to be a bigger part of his shtick, but nobody wanted to play with it.

That much I knew about. Caught me way off guard the first time I encountered an AI gen of him out in the wild. The Adrian thing is new to me, crazy.
