Probably not? Females are naturally more popular than males in the Pokemon fandom. And Taunie/Urbain, personality and story writing, is actually somewhat disliked. They are not the most popular character visually for either gender, as well. How would being only a single character help them?

I like Urbain because of the Harmony x Urbain x Corbeau stuff but I would be less interested if it was a girl in his place.

I doubt it. The overlap between people who like one or the other is probably small. At most you might get some yuri/yaoi fans hoping on the train but at least yuri fans have non-PC dependent pairs to keep them satisfied
