Not the best retro VN but I like it a lot.

Superior to Umineko. Fans who think it's worse are fake fans without love.

I liked it a lot but I never finished it. I think I quit the chapter after the purple-haired girl's chapter. The yellow-haired girl's chapter was probably my favorite. I love how the whole thing works like peeling an onion, every layer being repeated but slightly different in order to form a cohesive whole.
Umineko, I barely touched.

Bizarre opinion. I'm concerned for your mental faculties if you find Higurashi pretentious. It's just a trashy, slasher thriller at its core even if it does do interesting things with the formula.

Like most VNs, it's hard to find time to read it. I must have put probably 100 hours into Umineko and I only got to Chapter 4. I enjoyed what I read of it but it did seem like it was going downhill and in a bad direction so that's part of why I dropped it but also because it was just long as fuck

It peaks at episode 6 actually before going completely off the rails right at the end

I agree with the other anon. You read most of the best parts. I think episode 5 is fun but its downhill from there. It devolves into pretentious nonsense that is insulting to read. The author refuses to write an actual ending and calls you a retard for expecting an answer to a mystery story

But EP7 has the answer to the mystery and Clair thanks Will for solving it. It's more like he calls you a retard if you only care about the mystery and don't give a shit about the characters themselves.

That's only if you read the manga. There is no answer in episode 7 or 8. People who claim the whole Shkanontrice stuff was obvious were spoiled or read the manga. You can lie and say it was spelled out but people who say that never back it up with text from the game. There's a reason its poorly rated in japan. There is just a weird cult that regurgitates his drivel about goats whenever anyone rightfully criticizes the ending. The author himself even says he regretted not putting the answer in the novel.

I dunno, I neither read the manga nor was spoiled and I could tell that EP7 was pointing at Shannon and Kanon being the culprit, though I didn't figure right away that they're the same person. Some of Will's statements are pretty unambiguous about it.
>The corpse that cannot return to earth returns to illusions. (the six bodies at the start of ep 1 which include shannon)
>A chain of illusions can only trap illusions. (the chain locking eva and hideyoshi's room in ep 1 that kanon found)
>The witch and stake of illusions can pierce naught but illusions. (kanon's death in ep1)
>Illusions who have fulfilled their role do not even leave a corpse behind. (kanon's corpse disappearing in ep2)
>No one would dispute that a coffin is a closed room (the closed room where shannon george and gohda died)

I've only seen the anime but I liked it. Not a fan of VNs since they require way too much time to get proper endings.
It's one of the better shows if you want a nice mystery.

I don't believe you since you didn't substantiate yourself with evidence. None of those lines you quoted do anything to indicate shkanontrice unless you are already aware of theory. People like you lie about figuring it out and cover for the bad writing in 7 and 8. The truth is that the author didn't have a satisfying answer so he told you to imagine it and later supplemented his work with the manga answer. There isn't a definitive answer in the visual novel and if you think there is you misunderstood it completely. You can easily form a theory for other culprits based on those same lines from Will

There are even multiple things that happen in the novel that make shkanontrice impossible. Like Erika gathering everyone together and seeing them while she was detective. If you actually follow the rules of the story and don't have outside info you would have considered them being the same person ruled out by the detective's observations.

Like all VNs, it's ruined by the protagonist. Not that this is unique to VNs...

Okay, then put your money where your mouth is and tell me who do the lines I quoted point at.

But that scene was from Battler's POV, not Erika's.

I think Umi is at its best when it's Battler and Beatrice debating each other, Beato specially peaks when she's still a wicked witch.

I tried to read it. Gave up early in the second episode because I could not stand the protagonist. (As I have with every single VN I've ever tried to read, what the fuck is wrong with Japs?) The girls were nice I guess.

started reading it a chapter at a time a little while ago, still on the first VN. the prologue was very promising and i find it very amusing to switch between the five year old designs and the "modern" ones. during the old bachelor scene i had to remind myself out loud that this is a goddamn horror novel

honestly enjoying it a lot whenever i have the attention span to read some

But with detective's authority she would have had the correct information as a witness during the trial later. She confirms she was there during the trial but is unaware of Shkanontrice despite saying everyone was accounted for. You are a goat who just takes the manga answer.

Early in the 2nd episode is easily the worst part until you get to 7 and 8. You really shouldn't read it unless you want to be unsatisfied and insulted. The fans who still cling to him and defend him after the shitty end are sycophants who love to be insulted by an author who hates them.

But Erika didn't use her detective's authority to confirm who was at the parlor. It was Battler who said in red that everyone was gathered there at the parlor and Erika assumed that included Shannon and Kanon because that's what Battler's POV showed.
