What the fuck kind of question is this? Obviously it had a huge influence on JSR. Think about it.. the spray paint... Bart is weaponized... the expressions of youthful paranoia..

What do you even mean? Cartoon art direction? Spray painting (which is only parts of one stage and not even creating graffiti)?

He only really spray paint's in the first stage. Or does it ever return? Because it was the best part of the game. It has been a long time since I have even picked up Bart vs the Space Mutants. After the first stage, it turns into a generic platformer. I always thought the first stage was a nice recreation of Sprinfield. The x-ray glasses were a good play mechanic. From the mall stage on, it turns into a generic collect-a-thon platformer. But there is an adventure game like element to it. Probably the best of the Bart Simpson platformers on the NES. Would have been happier with an NES port of Konami's The Simpsons.Acclaim acquired the rights to the Simpsons through their LJN purchase, but the Genesis/ Mega Drive port was released under the Flying Edge label.

>Or does it ever return?

Unfortunately not. Stage 2 is the worst (just extremely awkward linear action in an ugly setting with item collection along the way), stages 3 and 4 are the same (but not as ugly or tedious) with a few cool one-off gimmicks here and there, and stage 5 is a not especially awkward, but generally bland, nonlinear collection puzzle. The cool one-off gimmicks are almost all crammed into stage 1.

You clean shit
If this thread can say Bart V Space Mutants is proto JSR because spray paint in parts of one level, Space Quest is proto mario sunshine because Roger Wilco occasionally cleans shit, any counter argument saying otherwise is invalid.
