Your mistake is in only having one party member. Ultima does double damage when it hits only one character or monster, or more accurately, it splits its damage in half when used against multiple characters or enemies. If you take only one party member and you fight the Brachosaur, you'll get blasted by the full power of his Ultima.

It's how you level up quicker. All that EXP for 4 people goes to one, and with the egg it DOUBLES. I was able to get all my party members to lvl 99 with all spells in under 30 hours on the SNES version.

I mean, if the objective is to get every party member to the max level, does it really matter if you do it with parties of one or parties of four? You can even get extra Exp. Eggs in the Coliseum so everyone gets double experience. I'll be honest, though, I've never actually done it. Most I've done is get upwards of level 60, and nowadays I don't even go much above level 25 to beat the game.
>>11793035
An even better way is to steal Economizers from Aquila in the Coliseum. There's a specific setup with Gogo that makes it relatively easy, too, though it requires some restarting because he's not guaranteed to be carrying it, but it's much easier than finding Aquila in the Phoenix Cave or fighting Brachosaur.

And explained in The Flight of Dragons almost the exact same way 43 years ago. The difference is that, like eels, dragons have an electrical charge but, unlike eels, it comes from a thimble-shaped organ in their mouths. They create lift and dragon's fire by eating limestone, which is rich in calcium and reacts with the hydrochloric acid in their bellies to create hydrogen gas. Wings are used as rudders rather than for lift which, again, vibes from the gas. This gas is expelled to reduce altitude and set ablaze by the thimble to create fire.

I wouldn't say it is. The second one is quick and easy (just bet the useless Tintinabar you get in the WoB). For the third and fourth, just bet two Elixirs and continuously bet what you get until you get an Exp. Egg (should be four battles each). So in total, it's nine Coliseum battles to get three extra Exp. Eggs. Some of the monsters are a bit tough on paper, but with the proper setups, they can be dispatched without much of a problem.

I honestly find this is unnecessary - if you just grind in the dino forest long enough to teach three characters Ultima (one for each final dungeon party) you usually pick up three Economizers while you're at it.

You can't. They're saying you can start with an elixer, win the prize, bet THAT prize, etc etc, until you reach the required Tintinabar for the Experience Egg wager.

Either that or try morphing Stray Cat and its palette swaps and hope RNG gods are on your side.
