Wasn't this the game where you needed a CRT to beat Tyson because LCD input lag made it impossible?

even though PO isn't a conventional boxing game anyway, the NES was still kind of thin on those. there was Konami's Exciting Boxing but it never got out of Japan i think because Konami USA were never all that interested in sports games.

they had the Track & Field series but the market for sports games was already saturated so I guess they decided not to bother with it and even in Japan their sports efforts felt phoned-in and unimportant.

Punch Out!! takes place in the same post-apocalyptic future as Double Dragon where rules and regulations have been grossly scaled down.

samefag.
people speedrun punch-out blindfolded using reliable strategies based entirely on predictable audio cues and fixed timings. it's 100% a rhythm game. if you think otherwise you are not only retarded, you have most likely never actually played the game.

Timings aren't fixed, there's a reason people had to learn how to beat Tyson in one round with a blindfold, because you can't simply do it according to a timer.

People also can't reliably beat Tyson in one round with a blindfold on. Most blindfolded runs end up in round 2 because the delays between his uppercuts have 4 different delays he can thrown them on, and his winking jabs are literally completely random. Obviously you can react to visual cues, but things happening with completely random timings pretty much makes it the opposite of a rhythm game.

This joke never made much sense to me because I'm from Flint and grew up seeing shit like that from time to time.
Also Little Mac is a professional boxer who's theoretically knocked out Mike Tyson.

And this joke was in a Dorkly video so it's automatically shit.

I know Mike was a savage irl but very surprised Nintendo let him ad-lib his in-between round trash talk. Must of been in the contract in order to use his likeness.
