I installed D2R and looted my plugy stash from years ago and moved a bunch of shit from plugy sp to d2r sp. I've got a level 90 lightning sorc fairly decked out, 88 summon necro with HotO and a bunch of other dope stuff, 81 lightning fury amazon, 85 fanaticism/zeal pally and some mules full of goodies.

I've never played a barb before. What build should I play for clearing Hell?

Decided to finish the game online and I'm in act V near the end with a sin on Nightmare difficulty. Not that I'd play with anyone else, but I've checked a couple of times out of curiosity and online on Normal and Nightmare is a ghost town. Is Hell where everyone plays or is online completely dead in D2R?

What's wrong with it? I don't see the harm in buying it and experiencing a slightly prettier version of the game with some QoL changes and buffs to weak builds to make the game more interesting. You can freely move saves from one version to the other.

The load times on single player d2r were really annoying, and were only an issue because of the forced online bullshit. Theres a workaround i did years ago that forced the game to run locally but it broke my install when the next update came out. I kinda just never bothered to reinstall after that.

Barb is pretty lousy for solo play. Frenzy would be the best for soloing hell. Whirlwind is crap, way too gear dependent. Concentrate is ok but really boring. Just do frenzy.
