2d or 3d platformer reccomendations
I really want something that has mechanics similar to sonic 1's second level. All the nicely timed jumps and a variety of obstacles
For 3d platformers, something similar to crash bandicoot 1, especially a level like temple ruins

Super Mario All Stars + World with the brick fix patch is pretty good for a 2d platformer...
Like it's a really decent game.

Based Crash 1 and Sonic 1 enjoyer. People always think I'm trolling when I say I think Sonic 1 is the best Sonic game and that green hill zone is one of its worst zones.

Yeah sonic 1 and 2 are solid pieces of art. The music, the backgrounds, the level designs and gameplay is all so balanced and comfy. Sonic 2s Wing Fortress Zone is one of my favorite moments in platforming
I was practicing speed running donkey kong country 2 all winter.
So now im looking for some new games
And I still would love to have a "godmode" mod for any of these games mentioned. I wish developers included a "godmode/practice mode" into these games

Check out Jumping Flash on the PS1, yes it's in First Person but its a great game in it's own right, I also like Psycho Fox on the Master System or basically the same game Decap Attack for the Mega Drive. For modern stuff I'd be checking out the Spark The Electric Jester series (start with 1), La-Mulana (2 is easier to get into than 1 and more forgiving), and probably something in UFO 50.
I'm listing more modern games as you said you'd kinda blown through many of the retro platformers already.
Also Sonic 1 is my favourite in the series too.

Tryrush Deppy. It's a Sonic-like, getting to the end of the level is easy but finding all the secret routes and stuff is hard. However the difference is that you can't backtrack so you only get one attempt in most cases to find the alt routes which can be infuriating. IIRC you can save between levels at least

Donal Duck Goin' Quackers is a nice Crash clone. It's short and easy but extremely fun due to its excellent pacing.

Might as well also recommend the Aero the Acrobat games (there are 2) by the same developer, Zero is actually a spin-off game in the same universe

if you want more 3D platformers that play like Crash Bandicoot, I'd play the following, also on PS1:

>Barbie: Explorer
>Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers/Quack Attack
>Lilo & Stitch: Trouble in Paradise
>Scooby-Doo: Cyber Chase

I wouldn't put any of them above Crash 1, but they're decent clones.

If you like how Sonic 1 feels, mainly Marble Zone, I'd actually recommend Sonic's Master System/Game Gear titles over the Mega Drive ones, since they play a bit slower, more grounded and rudimentary, probably what you're looking for, I'm personally one of the few that prefers these titles actually, so give them a shot! I'd recommend both versions of Sonic 1, the console version of Sonic 2 thanks to the resolution, the handheld version of Sonic Chaos so that it's not too easy, and Sonic Triple Trouble is only on Game Gear. Other titles like Sonic Blast I wouldn't recommend, maybe Sonic Pocket Adventure on Neo Geo Pocket Color? It's fun aswell.

It depends, if you go for the Master System versions, I'd say they're the same, or easier even, but if you go for the Game Gear ports, the resolution makes them harder since it's harder to see around you and what's coming up ahead, this is especially bad when playing Sonic 2, which is somewhat infamous for it, while the Master System version is a pretty simple run for most really.

If you'd like more Donald Duck platformers, I'd recommend QuackShot on Genesis and both Lucky Dime Caper and Deep Duck Trouble on Master System. Donald Duck and SEGA was just a great combination in the 90's.
