It's probably your TV. Adjust brightness/contrast in menus and if that fails, go into service menu and adjust sub brightness and contrast. Your problem isn't normal. The game has some 'dark' sections but not in a way where you can't clearly see what's going on.

The gameplay is a bit less refined but in some ways it's funner. I like it just as much as ROTK if not more.

The games make a good pair if you're a fan of the series. I do like playing Two Towers a lot. King tends to focus more on big spectacle.
