Cruise Chaser Blassty. It's kind of a Pokemon-esque game but with space battles. Sadly it's a little simplistic and my PC-98 emulator's character set is somehow a bit wonky so I can't read some fields sometimes, making it a bit painful to play. But if you like Pokemon and think an unlicensed Macross / Gundam / etc. ripoff mashup sounds cool, and you're better at setting up your PC98 emulator than I am, this could be right up your alley.

I only know this thing from Chrontendo mentioning it in his review of this one FDS game.

I've never even played PC-98 before a while ago, just got the emulator and a ROM pack from the Internet Archive and decided to check it out and play some random games. I haven't read reviews or anything for any of them but EVO, which is the reason I bothered with the system in the first place. That's a kick ass game, kind of like Final Fantasy in a way. Leveling up is really cool and it seems like they tried to be a bit more educational with it than the SNES EVO game.

This game was made by Square, waaaaaay before it became Squaresoft. It was also Nobuo Uematsu's debut as a composer.

The music is literally painful. But again I am apparently shit at configuring my emulator.

Don't get me wrong - it's an OK game. Sort of rock paper scissors thing like almost all JRPGs in play. It's just not my speed. I appreciate it for what it was at the time and any autist for this kind of game should give it a whirl for sure.

Reading about it ended up being more exciting than playing it for me is all I'm saying. YMMV, etc.
