Hey man, don't talk shit about medical herbs. They will save your life.

It's ungrammatical to add 2nd person suffixes to infinitive verbs, because they by definition don't inflect for person. "youeselfest" is also just gibberish.

Also, in the SFC remake one of them can (if you win the 3/65536 chance variant version of the herb item) transform on use into the lost little sister of the Princess of Moonbrooke, who was previously trapped in a nonhuman form just like her older sister, and then she will travel with you to certain towns as you unlock the relevant gate shrines and give you unlimited free medical herbs and eventually a unique weapon.

It really irks me that from now on it will be impossible to talk about DQ2 anymore without posts like this that refer to the shitty modern remake.

The Princess of Moonbrooke does not have a sister, never has, never will.

The reels contain some symbols more often than others which makes winning the good items almost impossible.

Winning a Wizard's Ring and a Wizard's Wand is fairly easy and fast. I usually always get one of each at that point and it doesn't take more than a half hour, and sell the ring so I can buy equipment at the shop without grinding money.

I mean there's even a fan theory that's compatible with this, saying that Rachel (or whatever she gets named in your run) has always been a shapeshifting monster who worked for the Dragonlord and subsequently embedded itself in a royal family by posing as a human baby that would "grow" by continuing to shapeshift. It's honestly weirdly plausible, given the information provided by the game

I like the fact that this is one of the only RPGs I've played where defending has to be a regular part of your strategy.
It does mean battles often boil down to the same strategy of defending with the mages while Hero thins down the enemies but it's novel nonetheless.

I only defend very rarely. Once the princess gets the Wizard's Wand she always has an attack method that's worth using, and her + Cannock can often dipose of 1 enemy in a single turn while Midenhal disposes of another enemy on his own

The logistics of it are a bit sketchy for me.
A group of enemies can very easily focus down the princess if you're unlucky enough and it's never a guarantee that your party goes first.

It's not like she dies in one hit from most things, a gangbang can happen but I find that the pros of attacking outweigh the few scenarios in which someone will die if not defending. There is also no guarantee they'll attack the person defending so in those cases you're just dragging the fight and end up taking more damage than if you were attacking. I think enemies are more likely to attack the 1st party member too.
Having someone killed and having to backtrack to revive them sure happened a lot but that's the game for me, though there are definitely cases when defending is a good idea like against the metallic death machines in Rhone, I just find those cases rare

I hate how DQ1 one had this cool battle window of your enemy in their natural habitat but the later games have them in a black void

This was my strategy too and last time I mentioned it on this board I was told I was a pussy bitch. It just made sense with how random the turn orders were you could die instantly on the weak characters. I remember having to defend often on the weak party members in Mother 1 it felt a lot like DQ2

as well as DQ5

But by that point it the bg can hardly be seen because they needed the screen space for potentially a lot of enemies at once
