Legend of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse for SEGA Game Gear. It's the weakest of the Illusion series, but it's short and easy if compared to the others, which in some ways make it more relaxing, also the graphics and atmosphere are both very cozy too, I think that if you find this a bit too easy, then go for Castle of Illusion and Land of Illusion on the same console, the latter being what I like to call a "MickeyVania" of all things.

Oh yeah that game is indeed comfy. I love how you start in an empty village that gets gradually filled with buildings you unlock.

Sonic & Tails/Sonic Chaos is one of the easiest and most comfortable Sonic titles to play. It might be a bit dull if you're more of a fan of the series and familiar with how it plays, but for people not so used to Sonic, especially if you go for 100%, it offers enough of a challenge to be engaging, while remaining a relatively simple title to go through on your 1st sitting in less than an hour or so.

Well, you posted it. Zelda 3 is my go-to "just live in the world" game. It's fun to just keep roaming around the map without focusing too much on the quest. Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore fit that niche too.

Age of empires is so chill and relaxing if you make a custom scenario with huge maps and lots of resources. Skyroads is also relaxing. Pocket tanks, sim city 2000, worms, line rider, pilot wings 64 and Kirby's Dreamland 3 are pretty chill and relaxing.

There weren’t as much le gomfy games in the retro gens because the cost of living hadn’t exploded and people still had hope so they didn’t need games to provide a sense of calm they couldn’t get anywhere else.
