Has any FPS ever since had such emergent gameplay?

This but unironically. First fps I've ever played was Wolfenstein 3D, played through all the good and some shitty ones too cause I loved the genre but when played Halo it completely blew me away. All the seething is from insecure mustards who just can't accept a console fps can be good or that somehow not playing with mouse and keyboard makes it a bad game.

MGSV? You can aim in first person in that game, so it could be considered an fps. MGSV is incredible in that you have total freedom in how you choose whatever you want to do. It's on par with Halo as my favorite game ever. I honestly couldn't choose one over the other even if you had a gun to my head.

i played through it on heroic recently and it's fine i guess.
i really hate how every weapon except the pistol and sniper become practically useless on distances longer than like 10 yards. also the library level is such a boring fucking slog it took me several sessions to get through, nearly made me drop the game.
