Despite owning both franchise. I'm seriously surprised that YGO never got a Jikkyou pro like story mode. Even fucking Gundam games had their own OCs fighting a tournament or some shit.

There are multiple yugioh games about the characters fighting in tournaments. Unless you mean something different

simple and fun, as card games should be.
even if it gets bullshit at the end, you can bullshit back at it spamming equips and raigeki.

After the first time a card drop mod is necessary to not make it an autistic fucking grind. Also I always was sad that duelist of the roses never had anywhere near the romhacking scene this did, although the romhacking scene for FM is bizarrely spread across a bunch of Brazilian and Vietnamese blogspots and shit like that, really decentralized compared to something like Super Metroid.

boring as shit
the grind fest iirc only exists in the usa and eu versions, the game wasn't supposed to be so grindy in japan.
I don't really know why anyone likes it, playing through it is a chore.

Nostalgic but also dogshit for the absurd grind it takes to get through the latter half of the game. Even if you factor in the pocketstation in the JP version, its still shitty that an addon was basically a requirement to finish the game.

I've still never gotten past the mages. Every now and then I'll turn the thing on, grind Pegasus for a couple hours, get a few S-Tecs and get zero bright castles or anything else useful cause even with S-Tec its like a fucking 3% drop, and then leave the game for another year or two.

Currently playing GX Duel Academy on GBA.
JFC the opponents in this game cheat pretty blatantly.
No sir, I don't believe Jaden just happened to have two Mirror Forces and a card to get two level 6 monsters for free.

Also the Fire deck SUCKS ASS, possibly the worst deck I've had the displeasure to play in a yugi game but the Wind deck is actually able to win when the computer feels like it. Still, begginer opponents already having Tier S staples on their decks is insane, I want some Mirror Force too.

It plays in a simple manner, close to how the early manga and anime did things, the fusion mechanic is awesome when you get that it's all about types instead of specific cards, the OST and overall atmosphere are incredible... it's not too fun if you don't already enjoy the IP, due to the simplicity, grinding and difficulty spikes, but for fans of the IP? It's still fun to go back to...

The first playable Yugioh console game was WC2006. So, I personally think FM shit.

>>11802438
I'm not sure what that "Jikkyou pro"-like means, but there's several different ways YGO games went over stories:
>Ultimate Masters 2006 and 2007
You're fighting through predetermined enemies, each with a unique deck. Each time you beat enemies in a specific "tier", you unlock the next one. It feels tournament-like without being an actual tournament.
>World Championship 2008
You're progressing through multiple worlds, dueling "spirits" and going through a story of sorts. As you progress through the world, you unlock opponents in the free duel mode and you can start tournaments.
>Tag Force series, Legacy of the Duelist, WC 2009-2011
You're progressing through an anime-parallel story or an actual anime story.

I assume he changed his system sounds (on Steam Deck) into whatever sound effects the game uses. For example, for a low battery notification he might get the sound effect of being attacked directly or something.

It's all about *how* you get that bigger number, through equip cards, field spells and/or fusions. It's still simple and boils down to bigger numbers, but I find the simplicity charming, and everything around it, the art, 3D models, aesthetic, OST and atmosphere, are all so good that it makes the overall experience still fun to go through.

I miss the old Yugioh cards, it used to have a lot of cool and fearsome monsters, nowadays it's all cute anime girls.
Anonymous No.11818891
>>11818881
In most cases old art was much better because it was simpler. So everything was clear even in video games where images are low res.
New card art has so much detail that it all becomes a clusterfuck of colors where you can't even tell what's happening while looking at the card IRL. Might as well remove the card images entirely and just make the whole card a text/effect box.
Anonymous No.11820371 >>11820751

The reason Yu-Gi-Oh is mostly cute anime girls nowadays is that people who like cute anime girls actually buy the cards.
If the people who-like-cool-monsters-like-back-in-the-old-days bought cards like Dragonmaid players buy cards, Konami would meet your demands in no time flat.

Also I just put in another order for $13 of nothing but Dragonmaids, Channelers, Harpies, and Traptrix, so I'm part of your problem 草

The fusions aren't hard to memorize, they're pretty simple and generic outside of fusions from the anime/manga
female + rock = Mystical Sand
elf + warrior = Celtic Guardian
dragon + machine = Metal Dragon
dragon + zombie = Dragon Zombie
beast + plant = Flower Wolf
(under 1000 ATK) plant + zombie = Wood Remains
(over 1000 ATK) plant + zombie = Pumpking The King of Ghosts
(under 1000 ATK) thunder + dragon = Thunder Dragon
(over 1000 ATK) thunder + dragon = Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon

The AI literally is bullshit lmao. The bosses at end gmae rush can see your face down cads and your hand, as well has having 20 cards in their hand at all times, but funnily enough the hardest is seto 3rd because odds are he's definitely gonna have a 3 headed blue eyes and you're fucked if you don't hav meteor B skull + 3 attack boosts for it.

Yes, it has its own set of rules, but not too complicated, just go through the tutorial and you'll be able to grasp everything you need to play, it intimidated me at first too, but in just a couple of hours I was playing as if I had grown up playing it, feels good.
