I played Diablo 2 as a kid but I dont remember anything about it other than there was a spell where you spawned a wall of fire or something. But looking at some gameplay video it seems like a completely mindless game, just click on the enemy and watch your character hack it to death, where's the fun in that? where's the tactical layer? it just looks like mindlessly clicking on pixels

Project Diablo 2 is the definitive way to play D2 in the CURRENT YEAR. It's so good, like if D2 kept getting updates, QOL, and balance changes without fucking it all up. Highly recommend it.

Over the weekend I tried Skygunner, but it left a pretty poor first impression on me. Like forty minutes of tutorial missions, then the very first mission I play on Normal mode is an ultra-hard boss battle. I stopped playing after that.

Are there any anons here who can tell me if I'm doing something wrong? I really like the game's presentation and atmosphere, but I'm not going to bother if this is all there is to the gameplay.

Project Xenome is pretty solid so far and it's in that pic. The start isn't too promising because you might go "ah it's just Black Mesa" but it picks up quickly. I've also played Project Zephon (icy techbase themes, very recommended if a bit spacey at times) and Deju Vu - Gryphon Revisited (classy 'original Unreal' callback campaign, pretty decent if you're feeling nostalgic).

I'm getting through the first two Panzer Dragoon games to finally play Saga.
The art direction of these games is phenomenal and the first one was really good, but I was expecting a bit more of it. I've seen people putting it above Star Fox 64 or even Sin and Punishment, but no way.
I just started Zwei and paused it to take a shit. Really slow start, I hope it picks up pace. That scene where you jump off a cliff was cool though. Maybe i will even start Saga today.

I'm replaying TECMO World Cup Soccer on NES thanks to the hype around the FIFA Club World Cup, also listening to a lot of Freed From Desire by Gala since this tournament reminded of how good that song is, great choice of theme song from FIFA. I went with Japan this time because of Blue Lock being a fun read, and they actually have a white and red kit here like in Blue Lock's U20 match arc, feels like I'm playing the U20 World Cup that the manga teases will come at some point, it's just fun!

You could try out Belzebub for Diablo 1. It adds 8 or so new quests with their own dungeons based on existing data on the CD. It also revamps the progression though so there's a lot of grind and OP boss enemies involved. Neat for at least one playthrough though.
