I always thought this was kind of dumb. I mean you can base something on real historical events but also add fantasy elements, they can both be true. "Based on" doesn't mean a 1:1 recreation. Like The Terror is based on Franklin's lost expedition but it also has a giant enemy snow monster. I feel like people who complained about this just don't know what words mean. But then again I'm also autistic
