>>11806215I always had that same reaction to the wave of ugly post-Ren & Stimpy children's cartoons. It was cool when done once with an insane artiste driving it to actually break some boundaries in an interesting way. Any more than that though, Spongebob and Rugrats and all the rest of that, just makes me feel depressed. Even the freaky yellow monster-people of The Simpsons are super cute (well, once the earliest episodes are done anyway) compared to this kind of aggressive unpleasantness. Stupid American marketers filtering out anything that isn't somehow abrasive and ironic.
It's okay if the show is good enough of course. I didn't mind King of the Hill. (Also the relative realism of that show's style helped.
Real Texans are, if anything, even less attractive-looking than the ones in the show.)
