This is easily one of the best arcade games ever made. I love how strategic it is, because unlike other arcade games, this one is actually packed with tons of content, items, and tools to play with. I always liked Street Fighter but after playing this I really wished Street Fighter would have been less successfull. It's a shame Capcom don't make em like this anymore. Fighting games are too much about fighting the controls, frustration, and repetitive pvp matches. This game actually feels like a real adventure, but without being a boring RPG game, full of broken shit and no replayability. Playing this back in the days with friends must have been amazing.

Saturn english translation runs great, pretty much arcade perfect. Itcame out a month or two ago. I'd been playing it in Japanese for years

Yea I played Tower of Doom too. I also like it, but I think Shadow over Mystara is a bit better. Both games have their strengths, but Mystara is overall a bit more interesting. It has more characters, more content, and the start is more interesting. Tower of Doom has a really slow start.

It's not easy at all. There are some exploits in it, but nothing game breaking. And you have to be a very good player to use the actual useful exploits.
The large oil pots are probably the biggest help for most players, but they are basically just like bombs in other arcade games. Just because a game gives you a lot of bombs doesn't mean it will be easy.

I think the biggest complain I would give this game is the stage 2 river stage. It simply gives too much gold. The Juggernaut route only gives you 3 keys and a rod, while the river stage gives you like 6000 gold while still having an easier bossfight. It feels more like a bonus stage than a regular stage. If that wouldn't be the case the game would be pretty well balanced.

It is a bit too basic in the way it handles combos or attacks. It lacks all strategy in combat. Items hardly matter at all as they are weak and too few between.

It loses to other capcom belt scrollers. Like Cyberbots or Battle Circuit.

But it is easy. Normal enemies are trivialized because the juggling system is OP. Bosses are trivialized with items and instakill bugs.

Don't forget their predecessor King of Dragons. A non-licensed original that was more of a proof of concept that Capcom could make a good arcade multiplayer RPG. Simplistic, but fun. Beautiful pixel art for 1991 too.

It's only easy if you get carried by a good cleric or a whole party. I've already 1cced many arcade games, and the difficulty is totally fine. I would rank it maybe on par with a Battle Garegga 1cc. If you know the secrets in Garegga then it becomes very doable but still a good challenge. Memorizing the secrets in these games helps a lot.

I played shmups for score. I'm not a normalfag, but yea, they are the best beat em ups by far. Other beat em ups are too goofy. Beat em us suck compared to shmups, but D&D is an exception.

There is nothing wrong with RPG elements. Radiant Silvergun also has RPG elements and it's still a fun and challenging game. The problem with RPGs is just that they are too long and have no replayability. D&D games are still action games tho, so they are perfectly fine.

Look at how fucking cool and based these characters look. Modern devs would just not give us such cool looking masculine male characters like this today. You get 5 of them to choose from and only the Elf really is some skinny frail looking guy but even he looks cool. Games need to go back to this kind of aesthetics.
