You can't call yourself a true Mario fan unless you've completed Mario 2 and enjoyed it. It's literally the game made for fans rather than the commercial market, as the title "for super players" suggests. It's not some awkward DLC pack for Mario 1, it's the zenith of what Mario as intended by Tezuka, Miyamoto and the rest of the team can be as a momentum-based sidescrolling platformer.
>you've completed Mario 2
Done
>and enjoyed it
Foiled again
I don't call myself a Mario fan
>>11806450 (OP)There's that hidden block on the wall again at 0:11, like in SMB1 8-3. Why the hell is it even there?
>>11806450 (OP)Miyamoto said himself that the only game that captures the true essence of mario games is Hotel Mario and that anyone who hasn't played Hotel Mario should just die.
>>11806450 (OP)>You can't call yourself a true Mario fanAccording to whom? Some terminally online virgin retard zoomer? Yawn.
>>11806450 (OP)Bait needs more effort to actually be funny
>>11806450 (OP)>Every Mario game is piss easy >Except for 2 which is almost comically hard and unfunWhy was there never a game in the series that struck a good balance between fun and challenging?
>>11806450 (OP)>comparing 8-3 to 1-4you're a stupid faggot and i'm hiding your thread
>>11806549Uh, SMB1, 2US and 3? SML1 too kinda, basically all of the pre-World game and even World can get challenging if you are going for 100%
autoscrollers bad because speedrun man said so
>>11806450 (OP)thank god we never experienced that stupid shit
>>11806450 (OP)>You can't call yourself a true Mario fan unless you've completed Mario 2 and enjoyed it. It's literally the game made for fansCome on now, there are different kinds of fans. I agree that Lost Levels is awesome though. Never played the original version, I expect it's even better for the most part but I'm not sure how to feel about the lack of a save feature... I guess that's probably fine though, I've done SMB1 in one sitting without warps and it wasn't too arduous at all so probably this one isn't too bad either. You'd just have to work harder to become skilled enough to actually succeed at it since the game is harder. But that doesn't sound unpleasant - at least, not to me as an adult. I don't know that I'd have wanted to bother with it as a kid. But that's okay. It's not bad for a game to refuse to reveal ALL its secrets until it's played by a skilled adult (or an extraordinarily determined kid).
>>11806508This. I failed to play Hotel Mario and I dieded.
I played it many many times and will continue to go back to it, it's a great game. Still the only Super Mario game I can't beat without using continues.
The other Mario games, at least the retro ones, are great too though. Lost Leves is just on another level of difficulty from the start and gets really really hard, but honestly a lot of the difficulty also comes from the limitations of smb1's physics and controls, which are fine, I like them and the games were built around them but, a lot of the level design in LL wouldn't be a problem with 3 or, better yet, World's controls.
