We live in an era where fan projects for 25+ year old games are better than fully fledged AAA videogames with millions in budget
>>11809772 (OP)I love getting new games that are also old. bonus for when it's a childhood game I have nostalgia for
rom hacks also apply
between stuff like this and the massive amount of fantrans we get now, i havent played a game released in 2025 and have never enjoyed gaming more.
It's probably safe to assume that some 80s/90s gamers at this point have gotten a buttload of money and possibly retired. And now their retirement plans are "make the fan remake of my fuckings dreams"
I'm in a similar position, not really, but I could totally see it. I get very jealous thinking what people in our generation are gonna be doing when they're 50, 60, 70, 80. I don't think I will ever reach that age or have that kind of freedom to work on something, but it's easy to see how some will. And then you see projects like these or even bigger.
A mod starts with 75% of the work already done compared to a game made from scratch, and the devs have all the time in the world to finish them.
>>11809867Well, Gothic 2 already reused a ton of assets from Gothic 1 to begin with.
>>11809864AFAIK Archolos was done mostly by young pollacks. If you were old you'd have no energy or time for anything of this scale
>>11809864>I don't think I will ever reach that agewhy lol its not like it's hard to get old
>>11809917What? Trump is 79 years old and he does a million things a day. As for time, what? Old people have tons of free time
>>11809921Don't be retarded
>>11809924you're the only retarded one here lol you're acting like making it to 50 is some big achievement
>>11809935I accept your concession.
>>11809772 (OP)I wouldn't have it any other way
Passion>money, who would've thought.
>>11810114Can hired devs not have passion for their work?
>>11809772 (OP)It's a lot easier now that big budget games are so terrible.
For me, it'll be Zelda Indigo
>>11809924>he does a million things a dayLolno. He still does one to many things.
Where do people find the time, energy, and design skills needed to make these things? Like, how do they manage to fit the amount of passion it takes to heavily modify a full game, for zero expected reward or compensation, into their daily grind?
Not complaining at all, I've just never understood that.
>>11810649energetic people can do a whole hell of a lot
if you're not one just try to help them a little
In terms of energy, they usually just have it, some people are just more passionate about things then others and that's something you can't really change, and with that amount of passion you can always find the time and work on the skills needed to make what you desire
The only difference between you and me and them specifically is the drive to want to make something, and I personally also lack that drive, it does make me sad.
>>11809772 (OP)>archolos>black parade>ashes 2063post more kinos that blew AAA sloppa out of the water
>>11809772 (OP)> fan projects are better than fully fledged AAA videogamesIt was always this way, you just fell for the marketing hype along the way. Have you had your booster shot this week?
>>11810680heard good things about Arcane Dimensions
Death Wish for Blood is also great, 2.0 will make it even better
Now i have to try and play that Gothic mod!

>>11810649>Where do people find the time, energy, and design skills needed to make these things?Same place where you found the time and energy to play video games..
>>11809772 (OP)Has /vr/ ever made any Thief content?
